too much paperwork

I just started on my own (after a satisfactory orientation) and I find myself stayng up until 10 or 11 pm just to get the paperwork done. I am working 12 and 14 hours days, and don't even want to know what that turns out to be on a per-hour rate ( I am per diem). As a case manager, I feel I am putting in many extra hours for free. Does it get any better, or is this just the way it is? I'm ready to quit.

That is why I have stayed per hour. I'm new and often time it takes me a LONG time to do all the paper work. I just don't work for free anymore. I am told that it takes 6 months to feel like you have a clue as to what is going on and longer to feel comfortable but even then you'll still have questions that come up.

I hope that is true because after this last week I don't know if I can keep doing it.

Is going per hour an option for you, at least until you have more experience?

I wish I could go hourly, because I would be rich. It's the case management work that takes all the time, and it isn't paid any more than a per-visit relief nurse. I would like to go to a per-visit relief nurse status, but it doesn't include any benefits. Does anyone out there get paid extra to case manage?

I HATE all of this paperwork. I am looking for a job and I hope to be out of HH soon. I do not think I am cut out for HH and I miss the hospital routine.
