You still need to know math for LPN. LPN's have to figure drip rates, dosages, gm to mg conversions, pound to kg conversions just like RN's do. Yes you do have pharmacists and other nurses for backup if you forget or need someone else to check your math. But you will have calculations you will have to do and meet standards for LPN just like RN's do.
Im no math wizard myself, i had to go back and take some remedial math courses also, but if i can you can too. Dont be afraid of it, it doesnt bite and it cant kill you.:)
I have been through an LPN program and am now going through an RN program. As far as math, it is the same in both programs. My LPN program prepared me well for my RN program, even though they are in different states. In my LPN program, you had to pass a math test 100% to go on after the first semester. We went from having 78 students in our class to 46. You need to be able to figure out drip rates, and verify your IV's are going at the right rate, you may need to give an injection and need xmg, and receive a vial with several doses in it, and you have figure out how many ml's will be equal to xmg.
In my RN program we have to pass a med test every 8 weeks, to be able to continue in clinicals. Fail clinicals = failing lecture.
