Hello future RN students,

I could not find a thread for the Spring 2021 bridge program. This is my first time applying for this college for the RN program. I applied for SBVC for Spring 2020 but was denied. My ADA at my employment did not sign my employment verification letter, add a header or sign it. I submitted in the envelope she gave me it in. Other wise they stated I had every thing I needed to apply for their program. I actually applied the Fall 2020 program with them. I took my HESI but did not do as well as I wanted. Taking it at home with a Proctor was more stressful and we were not told to sign up for the proctor until the evening prior. I slept mayne 4 hours that might before having to take the test at 8:30 am. It has been over two weeks and we still do not know who has gotten in. Some students were not able to take the test so they had them take it yesterday and today. Hopefully we know by next week. There has been no communication from Valley staff. Every thing I know is from here. So that is why I am making this tread for MSJC.

I just get the email today that I am eligible to apply for the Spring 2021 bridge program. The application period is 9/01/2020-9/15/2020. I still need to schedule and take the TEAS exam to submit with my application. Has any one else applied for this term? Have you taken your TEAS yet? -Teri

Hi! No, we cant apply until September 1st, were you able to get your transcripts evaluated from MSJC? I take my TEAS on Monday.... and I was supposed to apply at SBVC too, but applications are postponed till further notice. Hopefully I have enough points for MSJC but they only accept 12 LVNs and it can be competitive. SBVC was my back up, so I hope they re-open the application period, especially since LVNs just do transitioning during the Spring. If you haven't signed up for the TEAS I would try to ASAP, because you have to do a dry run several days before the test to make sure your connection and computer are compatible. ?

I have mine scheduled for 8/28/2020. I needed to take it a week further later but they won't let you. I got accepted to take the HESI at SBVC for fall 2020. However, they did not tell us it was proctored until the evening before the test, setting it up and contacting the proctor help tesk took all night. I did not go to sleep until 2am and woke up at 5am. I sadly scored a 74%. Plus, they had Chemistry on the exam when it was suppose to be excluded but the new admissions director did not know this so we still had to take it. Some people got to take the test 2 weeks later because they had computer problems. I was a few points shy of getting in. They also took less students then they usually do. I don't know how California expects to account for all the nurses retiring and leaving the field if we can not even get into a program. I am not willing to pay over 100 thousand to get my RN license. I really hope I do good on this TEAS exam, I already get test anxiety. My home is not a good testing environment. Good Luck!

Did you take Pharm Calc and Med term at SBVC? That gets you a few more points there and if you have 2 years of foreign language you can get a few more points at MSJC. For the TEAS I have to leave my house, 4 kids and a proctored test don't mesh! ? Can you find somewhere else to take the test... friends or family house otherwise I was going to have someone take all my kids out for a few hours so I could focus. Just breathe before each question and really read the question carefully. You can also buy a practice test from the ATI website. Hopefully SBVC has their testing issues fixed and you can re-take when you apply, maybe thats why they are postponing the applications this semester. ? My husband always tells me whatever vibes you put out into the world come back the same to you! Good luck with your studies, stay persistent and positive and good things will come your way!!

Hello!

I am also applying for the LVN-RN bridge at MSJC. I got a 92% on my TEAS and a 4.0 science GPA. I’m so excited to apply!! Have you all taken your TEAS yet?

Hi!! I have a 4.0 GPA too I haven't taken my TEAS yet, Im nervous about it! So if I calculated correct I have 65 points going in and the TEAS is a make it or break it. So excited to apply I keep checking for the applications to open!

After reading tons of other threads look like we probably need at least an 87 to get in...

I have calculated that I have 93 points ?My TEAS score was in the top 1% of the country, so I hope it’s enough to get in!! I know if I would have studied a little more I could have done better but I’m happy with my 92%. Between homeschooling my 3rd and 4th grader, working 2 jobs as an LVN, and having a 1 year old and 3 year old, my study time was limited to about 2 weeks. I’m just really hoping to get into the program ?

You should be good with that, CONGRATS!! I have 4 kids too, just want to get in here too, its closer to home.

I hope so, I’ve worked SO hard!! I live only about 2 blocks from MSJC, so it’s the only school I’m applying to. I was told by a nursing counselor that the LVN applicants typically have lower points on average, and she said with my GPA I should be able to get into the program with a TEAS in the high 70’s. I’m fairly confident I’ll get in with my 92%. It’s still nerve wracking because I’ve worked so hard for this and I don’t have a back up plan other than MSJC.

Ill keep my fingers crossed for you!! I am only applying here as well, my back up San Bernardino Valley College has postponed applications. Im only about 15 minutes away! I hope we get in...lets keep each other updated, Ill let you know how I do on the TEAS, I can get a 4.0 but all my practice tests were only between 70-76% go figure!

On my practice tests I scored in the 90%-90.6% range. I ended up getting g a 92%, so you’ll probably do a little better than that on the actual TEAS. I scored the worst in the English section (79%) and the best in Science (97.9%). I think the math was MUCH easier than I was anticipating. The Reading was on par with the practice tests and the Science was a little easier than the practice tests. I underestimated the English section. I didn’t study for it at all and now I wish I would have, but that wouldn’t have made a difference in the amount of points I got on my nursing application.
I looked into San Bernardino, but I don’t qualify because I’ve only had my LVN license since February and to apply you need 1 year of experience. That seems to be the case with most of the bridge programs I’ve looked into, except not at MSJC.

I would love to keep in contact. It would be great to know each other in advance if we both end up making it into the program ?

Good luck to you on your upcoming TEAS test! When is it scheduled for?
