Published

Hello everyone!

New to this site. I just got accepted into Mt SAC nursing program Spring 2010 and wondering what was it like being in the first semester, what classes are we taking, are professors really helpful to ther students? Any information or advice would be gladly appreciated. Thanks!

Congratulation:yeah::yeah::yeah:.

Sorry, can't give you advice since I am also starting in Spring 2010. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and happy hard studying:jester:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! Happy hard studying to you too. I think we should start looking for 1.) syllabus 2.) books 3.) and other resources and read some/all of them even before the class starts. What do you think?

Oh, are you going to Sacramento State U. I am going to Mt SAC and that's in Walnut, CA around LA area.

Wow, you got into a college? I'm sure you'll save a LOT of money. I got a Paralegal degree from a college and it was sooooooooooo cheep. Of course RN is more expensive, but still. Congratulation! How many times did you apply? Are you plannning to go for BSN later?

I attended the orientation for fall 09 as an alternate. they told us that the first week of school there was about 300 pages of required reading. i bought the book that they said would still be the same for spring 2010. it is Kozier & Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing 8th Edition ISBN # 0-13-171468-6....it is a big book. they also gave us a handout with math equations to practice for Pharmacology. the teacher for Pharm seemed really nice when he spoke with us. Also if u dont know yet, you will need take the Hesi asessment test. i already took it. it is easy. there is a study guide u can get at Barnes and Noble. Some people said it is easier than the TEAS test. Hope this helps!!!!

@sacstate2010: I know that working and going to nursing school would be really, really hard, so I decided to save some money first before going to school plus I have my family's support. I thought about getting my BSN later on, but I have to work first then save some then go back again to school. ;)

@zzstudentmommy: Thank you so much for this information. This would really help a lot. I heard about HESI before, but thanks for reminding me. Also, I want to know if you can get the syllabus from the prof or buy it from the bookstore? I know some school sells their syllabus. Thanks again ;)

Jaimemac, sounds like you have a good plan. I would probably do the same for masters. Injoy your time with a family this Christmas season.

Any tips on how to prepare for the HESI exam? THANKS.

I studied the Hesi Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review. There were only these sections on the test; Anat/Phys, Grammar, Math, Reading Comprehension, and Vocab. It was really simple and basic. I studied these sections about 4 times each. Don't stress out...it isn't hard. Good Luck!!!

I don't understand. I applied Oct 2009 and still haven't received any letter or notice what wait list number I am or if I am the lucky "60" for Spring 2010. For those that got in for Spring 2010, when did you apply and when did you get your notice?

How does this work? SO confused!

I applied in the fall of 2008 and received my number in January. You should receive your lottery number soon in the mail.
