MSU BSN and ABSN

Published

Hi all (my first new thread here!)

Does anyone know if you can be enrolled for the next semester or be in progress in a couple of the prerequisites at the same time you apply to either the traditional BSN or the Accelerated BSN at Michigan State University? Or do you need to be 100% complete with all your prerequisites before you put in the application to the nursing school?

If I could still be in progress on a couple prerequisites for the traditional BSN, I could in theory apply for the Oct 1, 2010 deadline. If I had to be 100% completed with all the prereqs, I'd have to wait until the Oct 1, 2011 application date.

Anyone know?

Thanks!:heartbeat -frnzy

Hi MSUgrad,

Wow, you didn't get in with all that?? Now I'm really wondering what it took - but like you I'm moving on and it's their loss. I actually have three other schools I am waiting on for decisions so it's not skin off my nose that MSU didn't take me. I actually looked into U of M flint but chose not to apply because I would have to retake two 4.0's in science classes that were older than 7 years. I already spent a ton of money on nursing so I decided against it. Right now, I'm hoping one of the other three schools will pan out. I feel things happen for a reason. Congrats on getting into UM-Flint. That has to feel really good. I can't wait to get an acceptance. I have one denial already and until I get in somewhere, you feel in limbo. I am shocked at how high a GPA has to be to get accepted. Congrats to MSU for taking all the out of state students. I am sure Granholm will be thrilled when these people go back to their home states to work. :D

granholm did say you woukd be blown away!

I know several top med students and pHd students go to school in other states because better scholarships and program openings...adding to the states brain drain

Too bad about MSU a rather easy program ( at least the traditional program was), as pocket nurse indicated

but it really doen't matter too much as long as you do well somewhere else and pass exam as long as there's a shortage and even doesnt hurt if you want to move on to MSN, NA,NP later on as long as you have a good work record keep head up
