I have been searching allnurses but have come up short. I am sure the question has been asked before (many times over), but searching has been like herding cats, so hopefully you guys can help me.
I went to a really decent Accelerated BSN program, have 2 years pre-med. I am in the midst of applying for MSN-PMHNP and want some feedback on programs. My ABSN was fine, but I taught myself the majority of the material (not so with the physics and biochem I studied in pre-med). I want to go to graduate school that really prepares its students for practice. That is, I want to attend a grad school that teaches the patho and pharm. My pharm & patho classes were all memorization. I want the program to be science-heavy but in a way that makes connections between the patho and pharm... I certainly prefer not to spend my precious grad dollars and my very precious time writing papers about leadership & doing group projects. I find that understanding the patho/pharm actually means I don't have to memorize much and retention is so much better (I can memorize heaps but then I just dump it). I love the puzzle and really crave to understand how everything fits together.
I'm currently looking at ETSU, Frontier, and UND. I'm leaning towards UND. I would *love* to hear your thoughts and the thoughts of those that graduated or are currently attending any of these programs.
Thank you in advance!
