MSN Grad School GPA Requirement

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone, I'm a recent graduate of an accelerated BSN program as a 2nd degree and I was wondering what the GPA requirement was to get into grad school for MSN. Because I was in a one yr program and because it was very unorganized and somewhat unprofessional, it was very difficult for me and I only managed to get a 2.96. Would grad schools consider that a 3.0 or do they not round up? Also I had my first degree in microbiology and managed to get a 3.52 and a nursing pre-req GPA of a 3.9. Would that help me at all to get into grad school or do they only care about nursing school GPA? Also I was wondering if it was possible to take online undergraduate nursing courses to help boost your GPA. Have any of you done that before?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions! This forum has always been a big help!

As far as I know, schools usually look at your accumulative undergrad GPA, so it sounds like you will be just fine!

Ask the school that you are applying how they do it. I report each GPA received at each nursing school separately to the Admissions Committee (one gpa for ADN, one for BSN, one for MSN, etc). At my school, we do not average scores from one school to another.

Also ask the school what their mean gpa is for BSN grads?
