Hi everyone. I need an advice and opinion regarding my situation. I am currently an RN Case Manager for an insurance company and works from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm M-F. I love this job however I wanted to pursue my Masters in FNP. I am currently an online student and have enjoyed my Research and Health Policy classes so far while doing my Full Time job. My problem is when it will come to clinicals. I know that there are barely any clinics that will precept on a weekend basis or after 5:00 pm here in my area. I love my job so much that I cannot bear to leave or go per-diem/part-time and this job generates my main income as I am the main breadwinner for me and my family. I was thinking of shifting to another MSN track which is MSN in Case Management. There aren't much MSN Case Management nurses I know of, and a lot of my supervisors and managers have CCM certification. So I am in the middle of thideciding whether to pursue another MSN track or stay in my MSN FNP courses and would appreciate any opinion you may have. Thank you.

If you can, see about shadowing a NP for a few days to see if this is what you TRULY want. I see so many posts of "I love my job but". What is wrong with getting your MSN in something OTHER than patient care? If you really love case management, seeing the other side first may help you chose the right path as we really can't do that for you.
