MSN CNL Sacred Heart University?

Published

I am a new RN, 52 years old and have a BS in Accountancy. Rather than go for a BSN, I'm considering an MSN. I feel a little old (and underqualified) to become a practitioner, so rather than an NP, I am considering an MSN. I just want to increase my options - I think I want to continue to do direct patient care. I'd like to do it as quickly as possible, and am considering a CNL from Sacred Heart University. Has anyone gone there?

Does anyone have any advice on the best course of action to take?

Betsy

Hi Betsy,

Did you start your CNL at Sacred Heart? I started in January and would like to know how its going for you.

No I haven't - I'm still weighing my options. How do you like it?

Specializes in Correctional Nursing; MSN student.

Betsy, I'm 53 and looking at the CNL program as well. I plan to call them tomorrow. Let's connect!

I also have been looking into Sacred Heart University. I am from the Midwest and really do not know much about the school. Is it a reputable school, those that are attending how is the program going? What do you like or dislike?

Specializes in New Critical care NP, Critical care, Med-surg, LTC.

I'm attending Sacred Heart on-line now. I'm enrolled in the Patient Care Administration services track. The first four classes are the same for all three tracks (education, CNL and administration), then they specialize for the last eight. I've found the coursework to be reasonable so far, the professors are all pretty good. I'm in the fourth class, each of them are eight weeks long. I would imagine many on-line courses follow similar formats, we're required to do one discussion post a week based on readings and then respond to two other classmates' posts. There are additional assignments, larger papers, projects, group projects, research critiques, etc. So far I've been satisfied with the coursework, it's easier then nursing school was, especially since I'm juggling two jobs, and life with three kids and school. Good luck if you choose the program

Hi I'm 54 yrs old and have a Bachelors and Masters in non-nursing fields. I am looking at Sacred Heart for their online CNL program because I'm interested in bedside care versus management
