Hello everyone!
I'm moving to London from the states in January 2012 (hopefully) and hoping to work in an ITU/ICU. I have 2 years experience working in a cardiac ICU. I need advice on an agency to work for. I've heard Continental is good but ideally I'd like to work at the Royal Free Hospital. Anybody out there have a recommendation on an agency that places ICU nurses there? I'm in the process of applying to the NMC and for immigration status. I'd love to talk to anyone who's done the same thing. Appreciate any/ and all advice!! :heartbeat

Hoping to move in a couple of months I think may be a bit of a tall order. NMC can take several months and if you are looking for an agency to assist with work permit that may be hard.
Yeah, i've heard it can take up to 6 months for NMC to process the application. Have you done this? I've been in contact with some agencies and it seems pretty straightforward, I was just hoping someone might know of one that uses the Royal Free, or an ICU nurse that had a recommendation on where to work.

Hi there,
I am applying myself, although I am a NICU nurse. I thought that the only overseas folks eligible to come to the UK (without a UK/EU spouse) were those working in NICU or OR? That's what I had read on the shortage occupation list, anyway.
January does seem rather too fast to be working, especially since you'll have to do the ONP first.
Keep us posted on your progress! Have you finished the first pack yet?
I am originally from the UK and trained in the UK now working in Canada.
As mentioned in previous post occupation should be on the shortage list and that isn't very big in regards to nurses however London is extremely expensive to live and there are always nurses jobs going but you still have to meet immigration requirements
