Moving to N.C once grad

Nurses LPN/LVN

I 've been out of school (HS) for 11 years. How hard was the teas test for those that were w/o college credit and out of school for a long time? I plan on purchasing a book and studying off the web. Do you think that would be sufficient? I see many took college level science courses. So I am a little worried I won't be ready for the program.

As well, once I grad I will be moving to NC. Is there a need for LPNs in that state and what is the typically salary? I would rather work in rehabilitation and was hoping for around 42k. Does this sound reasonable? Thank you!

Specializes in CNA.

Im currently in a LPN program in Philadelphia, and thats how I passed my teas test, I brought the book and took the practiced test online before I went in took the actual test because my weakness was math in general such as percentages, fractions and decimals. After a week of studying the book and online exams, I went and took my teas test and passed it on the first try. I always give ppl advice to buy the book and practice online exams. It helped me so I hope it will help u too.

To your other question, I know nothing about NC, but you can google the info about whatever state youre trying to move to. I hoped this helped.

I currently live in the Charlotte, NC area. There are plenty of job openings for LPNs in Charlotte. However, these jobs are mostly in nursing homes, but most of the nursing homes are SNFs and have a rehab department along with a long term care. The salary will depend on what shift you plan on working. Most of the nursing homes start off with a salary 36,000 ($17/hr) I get steady work with a PRN pool at Carolinas Medical Center and make $27/hr. So it all depends where and when you work. The TEAS test is not nursing based so I would brush up on basic algebra, earth science, reading comprehension, and grammar. Try going to www.testpreppreview.com for some practice tests.
