I will be retaking the NCLEX-RN March 24th. I am moving to Maryland within the next month and am inquiring on good hospitals to apply to and what is the starting pay for new grads in the area. Im also a LPN and wanted info on long term care facilities and what the pay would be. Also, what are good neighborhoods? I was thinking Baltimore, but im willing to look at other places? Please help, im in a bad situation and am trying to get out ASAP!!!
Thanks,
Shawn

Hi,
I think the new grad rate is in the $25 an hour range plus differential. In my opinion although jobs aren't as plentiful as a few years ago MD is a great place to live and work. Here is a thread with info on different places to live in the Baltimore area. DC is close and pays a bit better but its more expensive if you want to live there. Wish you well. Jules

Jules is right, Baltimore should be as good as you get for new grad. I have lived south of Baltimore city for 15 years and it's great-access to just about anything you can imagine. I might suggest finding a place short term (1yr) outside of downtown initially. The city takes some time to become familiar with and figure out where you fit.
Best wishes!
