Moving hopefully to Tucson Arizona

Is there anybody here has recently moved to Arizona aside from Madwife_2002?... I just want to think positively of getting visas this month and planning to travel by end of December or January 2007. I just want to know the cheaper airlines fare from Manchester to Tucson AZ as well as highly recommendable air cargo for some stuffs to be brought there. How many kgs. or lbs. are allowed for each passenger? Thanks a lot! :uhoh3:

Sorry forgot about you-we will all have to meet up in the new year;)

That would be good, we've had a constant stream of visitors since August our last lot this year( my mil) leave the day before thanksgiving so I should get some kind of normality back then.

My son actually plays in a footie tournament in Phoenix next weekend, so we'll be up then but it seems pretty hectic.

The VA is the only government hospital in town that I am aware of.

Do you have to work at TMC? If so, can you select which department you will work at? I would try to avoid the units 750 and 850 if you could.

What do you mean try avoiding units 750 and 850 in TMC? What does it mean? What is in there? Is there anything I should have known? Don't worry Im always ready and won't be discouraged and as a nurse I have worked with different places and areas, diff. nationalities etc. It's not new to me anymore.

750s/850s is the unit numbers. Since TMC is all spread out and only has one floor they call them by their numbers instead of 4th floor, etc. The 750 is the med-surg unit with a little cardiac mixed in and unit 850 is med-surg with oncology. The nurses there usually had about 7 patients! They were always stressed, overworked, and had students of some sort there every single day....and the floors are carpeted! I've worked at TMC, and did 3 semesters of my clinicals there. 7 patients! What a nightmare. I remember I had a pt who had a K of 2.5 and it was drawn at 3 am. At 2pm, pharmacy finally brought the potassium (which was oral, BTW).

Although I'v never worked in their 400's units, I've heard from a friend of mine that on step down the nurses will take stable vents and gtts, while still maintaining a 5 pt assignment. So scarey!

Can you ask for a guarenteed minimum pt load, or a specific floor?
