Moving from Florida to Texas

Published

Hi, I'm currently an LPN in Florida. I'm planning to move to Houston in a few months. However, I'm not very familiar with what I need to do in order to transfer my license. How much will it cost, how long would it take. Also just steps that I need to take.

**If anyone lives in Houston, what RN transition program would you recommend?

You don't transfer licensure, per se...rather, you use your Florida LPN license to obtain a Texas LVN license by endorsement. You'll still hold both the Florida license and the Texas license unless you allow the Florida license to lapse.

Visit the Texas Board of Nursing website to read about the steps you'll need to take to obtain a Texas LVN license via the endorsement process. The process typically takes four to six weeks from start to finish.
