moving to different state w/ MS RN license

U.S.A. Mississippi

hello,

i'm starting the adn program at mgccc: jd to get an rn, but i eventually want to live in california and work as an rn there. would it be easier to finish the program here, get a ms license, then move to california, or should i transfer to a nursing program in california and get a license there? i want to live in the san francisco/bay area in california.

The vast majority of California nursing programs are badly impacted, and transferring to a CA nursing school would not be a feasible option (since it may never even happen). It would be better if you completed your nursing education in Mississippi, get licensed there, and then endorse the MS license into California. Good luck to you!

thank you so much for your quick reply.

i've been reading posts in the califonia nurses forum and now am having concerns whether the program i'm in will qualify for CA's education standards? the california BON website doesn't say about what programs meet their standards. i should be able to endorse a MS license to CA as a graduate from an accredited two-year adn program right?

Under most circumstances, yes. Many nurses move to CA and get their licenses endorsed without problems.

JD graduate here and I would recommend getting your degree at JD....you would probably have a much harder time getting in a program in Ca, JD is nationally accredited by the NLN, and several graduates have gone on to other states, CA etc...JD is easier to get in and has a very high NCLEX pass rate and is probably alot cheaper than any CA school...hope this helps you make an informed decision...Nazarite, RN
