Hello everyone!
My husband and I will be moving to the Hagerstown/Chambersburg area and I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on hospitals and areas in which to live. We thought we were moving to Dallas, but now......... How are staffing ratios at the hospitals? Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you,
Erin

Erin, both area's have a hospital they are smaller but decent. Neither are trauma centers. All high acuity pt's either go to Harrisburg or York.

Actually the level one trauma in the area is Hershey, Several staff take the drive from Chambersburg to hershey, or Harrisburg, the commute gets bad though, I work at Hershey can give you info if you like but it would be a killer drive
Thanks for the reply. I don't think I could handle the commute. Drive to work now is about 10 minutes--I'm too spoiled :rotfl: I'm thinking I will probably end up working in Chambersburg or Hagerstown.

Hello,
Hershey is a very good hospital. However, it is now for profit and does not appreciate the staff or the patients as it use too. It still have a great reputation and very successful.
It is a teaching hospital and affilated with Penn State University. The physicians, nurses, residents, nursing students and medical personnel are great and knowledgable. They also can deal with any well known illness to rare illness. They built a woman center and they were in the processing of building more facilities. The cafeteria is much better than some hospitals cafe. I know ...why did I mention that to you...because the food of hospital cafe taste like the patient's food..blah. Friendly is across the street, another resturnant is down the right and left of the street.
If you do not like to travel a long way and during inclement weather....than Hershey is not the place for you. Unless, you make arrangements to stay there during the winter.
Emm, Hershey park is down the road and the chocolate factory too. The air is filled with chocolate scents and if you are chocolate lover...than you will be craving for it.
Have a great evening,
