It might take 6 months, or maybe a little more. Some of the nurses from the UK and the Pacific areas have said on other threads that it has taken them up to 8 months to get all their I's dotted and T's crossed. You need to decide where in Canada you want to live, because as you probably know, Canada is a HUGE country.
Even British Columbia?
A quick look at the available nursing education programs in BC reveals that every single program is a baccalaureate. All of them. That suggests that entry-to-practice in BC is now the BScN. By the end of next year every province in Canada will have that requirement. However, that's for entry-to-practice. People who have been working as nurses for years with a diploma or associate degree may still meet requirements for licensure through the grandfathering clause they've had to include so that nurses currently working are not pitched out with the bathwater. The best way of finding out if you meet the requirements is to contact the College of Nursing in the province you're interested in. There are links to each College in a sticky on the Canadian Forum home page.
