Moving to California from Canada

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on nice areas to live in California. I am interested in living near the ocean, in an affordable area, keeping in mind I will be moving alone and will be making an new RN's salary. I won't be moving for a few years, but I just want to give my self a heads up.

Thanks!!

Beachfront neighborhoods and cities near the ocean are usually synonymous with unaffordability. A better bet would be to live about 20 miles inland and then drive to the ocean when you feel like visiting the beach.

If you are still set on living in a beachfront neighborhood there's San Clemente, Dana Point, Santa Monica, Laguna Niguel, Marina Del Rey, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Malibu, Long Beach, and many other places in Southern California.

While ther are no affordable beachfront areas in California, for wage/living expense ratios, I would suggest Monterey, Marina and Watsonville for your best salary to living expense comparisons. You can rent here for $1200.00 a month, and make 2100.00/3000.00 after taxes, depending on how much you want to work, and qualifications .
