Moving from CA to Nevada soon, where to apply?

Published

Hi all,

We are planning to move from CA to Nevada and we are choosing between Henderson or Summerlin area. Just wondering what are the hospitals that has the best offer in this area in regards to pay and benefits. Or do they offer relocation assistance.
My wife is an RN with 1 year step down and 5years ICU experience . What would be the ongoing hourly pay for nurses with this experience? And which hospital is the best? We are looking into UMC but upon research they don’t pay that well. Is St. rose a good choice?

As for me, I am a foreign trained nurse who just recently passed my RN exam. But I do have 2 years LVN experience working in ambulatory care in one of the LA County Hospital. Does that qualify as an acute experience? And also there’s a lot of RN residency program that different hospital offers but I don’t know if I qualify for those since I am not a recent graduate. Just wanna know where can I apply.

Any input would be very much appreciated! Thank you.

UMC is county run, so the salary difference isn't surprising. That said, employees there are part of the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), so many nurses find that the stability is worth the tradeoff.

Most hospitals would probably not count anything worked at the LPN level as being equivalent to RN experience in the same area.

As far as compensation and relocation assistance, I have no idea.

There are hospitals all over the Las Vegas valley, so you will find one nearby no matter what part of the area that you eventually settle in.

St. Rose in Henderson is considered to have a very good reputation locally.

I am also moving from CA to NV and just got a job with one of the hospitals in the Valley Health System. I have been offered a pretty generous relocation reimbursement and a bonus payable in certain time increments (fully paid by the 2 year mark).

I am also moving to NV but from the east coast. May I ask which one of the hospitals?
