Me and my husband will be immigrating to Oz hopfully quite soon from the UK. presently we are just doing research and find out a couple of things. Does anyone know how I can find out the pay scale in Aus, Like the national Pay scale. I am a top G grade in Uk which means Senior sister, does anyone know if I will be able to find a job that will offer me the same grade?

Also my in-laws will be hopfully moving with us if they get accepted, my father in law has had a stroke and is quite dependednt with the NHS here in uk, with free precriptions, free health service, annual checks of diabetes. will he get that in Aus? and how easy it is for him to come? As both of them are retired and will be dependent on me and my husband.Does anyone know what happens?

Thank You

The issues that you raise are complicated. I don't really fully understand your qualification, suffice to say that if you're a nurse - YOU WILL GET A JOB. Perth is no different to any other Australia state - they too are experiencing nursing shortages. Age doesn't have anything to do with it, and many hospitals have schemes to get more experienced, mature nurses back into nursing by re-training them if they have been working in doctor's rooms or in non-clinical environments. Many hospital administrators would jump at the chance to employ an older nurse with a lifetime of experience. Whether our age impacts your immigration status is something I can't comment on. However if you get in touch with the Human Relations department of any major public hospitals in Perth or even corporate offices of private hospital groups, they will assist you in your application to come to Australia by negotiating to provide you with confirmed employment on your arrival. They probably won't offer to cover any of your costs, but as 'importing' nurses has become one of the strategies that Australian hospitals are using to fill vacancies, the people involved in these schemes are fairly knowledgeable about how to make the immigration system work. Good luck.

Does anyone know much about this private hospital? The administrator did want me to come and I want to and I will revisit in another time when my last graduates high school.

CEO. Following my RGN (Registered General Nurse when I did my training 1975 now referred to as RN I believe) I worked in OBS/Gyn, before doing RHV (Registered Health Visitor & Diploma Higher Ed. Community Nursing. Therefore it's 'Community' where Ive the most experience.

Acute med, would take a huge re-learning curve and at my age!!! I expect not profitable if that is where the shortage is.

Hi Sum

I am a Manager in Nursing in Perth Australia. There are plenty of jobs not only in Perth but all around Oz. Where will you be settling as Nursing structures and pay scales differ in all Aussie states. Also what is your area of expertise?

Also have you considered coming over via a recruitment agency as most large hospitals and health services have agencies recruiting for them internationally. Often airfares registrations etc assistance is provided.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi CEO.

If you are a community nurse there is plenty of work in Perth. If you would like to return to acute medical the West Australian govenment runs refresher courses for nurses wishing to do this. They involve upskilling in theory and a practical or clinical. By the way you are paid to do this.

Cheers
