What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing various topics related to their acceptance into the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing program for Fall 2025. Discussions include housing plans, working while studying, interview experiences, application process delays, orientation and class start dates, registering for classes, and taking pathophysiology and pharmacology courses through Portage Learning. Additionally, members are sharing information about financial aid opportunities and a Facebook group for incoming students.

I haven't seen anyone start a forum for this cohort, thought I'd give it a try! I got my NursingCAS app verified on Tuesday. PSON emailed me Wednesday they took a preliminary look at my application portfolio asking when I'd be done with my only prereq still in progress and I told them April! Wish everyone luck.

Does anyone know when we can register for classes? Are classes going to be assigned randomly? Also, does anyone taking pathophysiology or pharmacology or both through Portage Learning? Can someone share their experience? Thank you.

hi @Laziza Khamidova I believe the school will be sending an email in June regarding next steps (registering for classes also) etc. Also, the school should be assigning the classes to this group Fall 2025 at the same time- we should follow their list, so it doesn't make sense to be assigning classes randomly.

As far as Portage learning: I took 5 classes with them and I liked it. However, they are very strict with their policies, for instance: their system flagged me twice: first time, they claimed I was looking to the side during a test, which I was; but I explained to them that I needed to look from side to side in order the finish reading the whole question, So this was just dumb! The second time, they claimed one of the answers for a test was flagged that I had used AI LOL. Then I found out that when I wrote for instance "they are not...." then their system would interpret this as if I had used AI tool; then I started using short phrases such as "you aren't" then their system was more likely to accept it as a normal answer. Overall, it was easy going but this strict policy drove me mad. I don't think I will take Pathophysiology and/or Pharmacology with Portage only because I'm much older now and I'm afraid that I won't retain much of the information, and I really don't want to be left behind during the semesters ahead. Other than that, I would actually recommend Portage. I hope this helps.

Thank you

Hey I got my acceptance and was offered the option to take patho and pharm through portage learning. I registered for patho. If I can finish this in good timing then I'll do pharm. This would lighten the course load and price for my 1st semester. Is anyone else doing this?

Hi @CallmeNurseP

Congratulations!

Yes, many incoming students are taking pharm and patho before the first semester. To hear about the experiences with both classes from incoming students, join Mount Sinai's facebook group for the Fall 2025 if you haven't already.

OMG thank you so much, I just requested to join! I had no idea there was a group. Super helpful. Can't wait to talk to you all over there :)

Hi everyone!

Congrats and good luck to everyone starting Fall 25. I received my acceptance letter in April.

Just wanted to give you guys this link, to help pay for school. it's part of NYS and 1199. From the orientation I attended you don't have to be part of the union to apply.

You do have to commit to working 3 years to a hospital or facility that accepts medicaid after graduating.

Anyone applied a little late and got the email to be on the waitlist or pushed to Spring ?

Hello,

does anyone know if thc is apart of the toxicology report? I know on the acceptance package it says it does not test for legalized recreational drugs. I need to get mine soon so any information would be appreciated thank you.

Hey, It says that it's not. But to be sure just call employee health and ask.

That's great news, congratulations!! I picked the option for Spring but I got my acceptance pretty quickly. Wondering if anyone else went the Spring route.
