Published

Hey, did anyone apply for the Fall 2023 ABSN program for PSON and did anyone hear back from them?

Hey guys, would anyone be comfortable with emailing me their statement of purpose/written essays they used to apply? I'm applying for Spring 2024.

@Katara Hi! I see that you were accepted, congrats!! Would you mind sharing your stats/GPA? You can dm me also

Hello,

I got accepted last week Friday. Also got into NYU. Does anyone have any info about mount Sinai or know anyone who went there and graduated.

Hi! Which school did you end up going to. And how was your experience?

The first semester is different from the rest because instead of clinical you have labs. Each class is once a week and 3-4 hours of lecture, and then you'll have basic skills lab and health assessment lab which are a couple of hours a week to every 2 weeks in the first semester. Nothing on the weekends in the first semester. Also, you will likely not know your schedule until after orientation-which may be challenging for those who also work or have kids to set up care for. Depending if you take patho/pharm ahead of time will change how many days of class you have/week. A lot of students had to push back to a later semester or couldn't keep up with the workload with all the classes so again, take them if you can. So many students said if they had known they could have taken it they would have. It also saves quite a bit of money if you do it through Portage, not only in tuition but book fees which can be hundreds per class.

Second semester starts clinical and you may get scheduled on the weekends.

I like the program - it takes a lot of planning and self-teaching (as with all accelerated programs) it is flying by. When I got all of my syllabi I made a calendar with what was due each week, when exams were, etc and crossed things off as I did them.  There are assignments with the e-textbook called prep u's and they were very helpful for me, especially in the first semester. Simple nursing and registerednursern on YouTube are great. As long as you stay on top of your studies and do a little bit every day you'll do well! Take advantage of signing up for a mentor in the first semester when they send that email out also. During orientation they discuss study methods and finding what works best for you, and that's really important to keep in mind. Good luck!

did you take Pato and pharma before you started the program?

Hi which school did you end up going with. I'm in the same boat. And what was your experience like? Are you satisfied with your choice?

Hello,

I ended up going to Phillips school of Nursing and currently in my third semester. Tbh I initially chose it because it was way cheaper than NYU but so far I'm happy I chose PSON because my experience have been great so far. Great and supportive professors and clinical instructors. I'm learning a lot and would definitely recommend PSON.

Hey guys! Hopefully someone can help with my question regarding scrubs and their colors.

So I finally received my scrubs from Medline and I can see that the quality isn't the best. I saw some on Amazon and my local scrubs store that are better quality for a similar price and I'm interested in purchasing those instead. However, the color Medline offers vs. the color other brands offer is literally 1 tiny shade of green darker.

Do you guys think it's acceptable if my scrubs from a different company are a tinyyy bit darker than the scrubs from Medline?

Hi, did you ever get any penalty for wearing amazon/local scrub store scrubs that were a little bit off color? Im starting with PSON this September 2024, and am wondering what scrubs to order because the medline ones don't seem like good quality. Also, how many pairs did you get for the program?

Hey! Sorry for the very late response haha. But no, you do not get penalized for wearing Amazon scrubs. Just make sure it's the same shade of green and there's no noticeable logos on it. I own 4 pair of scrubs in total but I just use 2 of them because my clinical/community days aren't back-to-back so I have time to do laundry in between :)
