Mount Saint Mary's College Fall 2011 ADN Program

Anyone apply and hear anything? Anything at all?

@minorsetback

Every school weighs things differently. If you have a low TEAS score, ok gpa, BUT a really strong personal statement, then you have just as good of a chance as someone with good gpa and TEAS score, but a weak personal statement. I've heard students getting accepted to the program with a low TEAS score and also applicants applying for a 2nd time with competitive grades, but had to redo their personal statement, so I guess it all just depends.

I'm already preparing to plan to retake the TEAS and looking into volunteer work to increase my chances for next term, if I don't get in this fall term. I know I want to stay positive that I will receive good news, but I wanted to have a back up plan in any case.

@ammabell

I asked that question at the Info session, and they said that LVN's and pre-nursing students who are already enrolled at MSMC do not necessarily get priority. Their applications are entered in the same pool as all the other applicants applying for that term.

Finally!!!

Web Advisor updated just today.

Hi,

Im in the same boat as for waiting to hear back from msmc. I was accepted into their pre-ADN program last semester and completed my last pre-req (speech) there in May and in April I met with my advisor so she could tell me what classes to register for the ADN program. I have been so confused because I registered for the classes and did my financial aid stuff and had an interview but when I emailed my advisor to see what was next she told me that the acceptance letters would be sent out in early June. So now I have been waiting for something in the mail....denial or acceptance....something so Im not sitting in limbo here. Has anyone else had the same problem...registered for nursing classes, did their financial aid, and had an interview?

optimistic2,

I emailed ---- 2 days ago, he said the same thing your advisor told you. "letters go out next week." haha he didn't say anything else, so I guess i'll just wait. gluck to us.

hugitout,

did you guys apply for lvn to rn, or did you guys just apply directly for the adn program?

@minorsetback

What a roller coaster ride!!! I applied for the direct ADN program. Good news when I got the accepted notification on web advisor, then not so good news when my official acceptance letter came in the mail a couple of days later.

Letter stated that I got accepted to the "PRE" nursing program due to some prereq's that I have not met. It's just frustrating because when I met w/ the advisor last semester to confirm w/c classes I needed to qualify for the direct ADN program, I pretty much went along with what her assessment was at the time. I should have double and triple checked every single class, because I would've planned accordingly.

I called -----, Asst Director for Nursing, and she said I will need to meet with an advisor to go through my transcripts again and figure out where I stand. They will consider putting me into the direct ADN program only after I get it clarified. So, I'm making plans to visit the campus to meet with someone this week to straighten things out and see where I stand.

Anyway...sorry for the long explanation, but I figure, hopefully this will help someone out there who's going through a similar situation.

Good luck to you, and continue to keep us posted! :)

Hi Everyone...congrats on all acceptances! I've been following the thread but this is my first post. I too applied for the ADN program, was accepted into the prenursing knowing I had some pre-req's to complete. I know the classes are evenings....has anyone that started in the prenursing portion and could tell me more specifically how the classes will go....for example how many nights a week and how long I'll be on campus? Thanks...I'm looking forward to beginning my new education for a great career and starting some new friendships. Talk to you soon. :)

hugitout,

well that's still alright, all you gotta do is justify and clarify that you've completed the required prereqs. I had some bad thoughts last night at work...all the acceptance letters were sent last week and all the rejection letters this week. damn man, I hope that's not true, I didn't apply anywhere else so i have no fall back; and my anatomy, chem, english, psych classes all expire august of this year so i'll have to do them over if i want to reapply. come on good news!!

silleea,

i think it depends on what classes you're taking, if it's only like 2 or 3 you're probably only gonna be there 2-3 days a week

Hey everyone waiting for news about the ADN program, I just wanted everyone to stay positive, keep your heads up...good news will come our way soon.

As for anyone that has just completed their pre-reqs and was in the pre-ADN program at msmc, I just have to know, did your advisor have you register for ADN classes yet and are you just waiting for an acceptance/denial letter now????????????

It seems like msmc does things a little backwards and I am registered for my classes but have not got officially accepted.
