Mount Saint Mary's ABSN Summer 2017

Updated:   Published

I recently applied to MSMU abs program for Summer 2017. I haven't seen a thread for this application process. Looking for anyone else going through this process!

?

Please PM me as well :)

Hi,

if you guys don't mind me asking, what was your GPA?

Can you add me to the Group Me? I just found this thread and got accepted too! Yippie!

Please add me as well.

Hi Jennaly & all future applicants for MSMU,

I used the forums when I first applied to help gather information so I wanted to post some information about my experience through the process, maybe it will help you.

I applied to MSMU summer 2016 and was rejected. My undergrad GPA was 3.5 and science was 3.44 (I had a C in micro). I had some experience working as a unit secretary but no volunteer experience or direct patient care experience. I called to find out how to improve. They said that they look at the application as a whole and not just GPA but they like to see a science GPA above 3.5.

So I retook micro. I enrolled in the COPE Health scholars program and volunteered 280 hours getting direct patient care experience over the next year and just to be sure I enrolled in an EMT program at UCLA.

My second time applying I had improved my science GPA above a 3.5 and gained experience with direct patient care and completed my EMT cert. I took the math exam (for the second time) and got a 100%. I was then asked to an interview. They asked some hard questions about why I had to re take classes and what I learned but I was prepared. I was accepted for Summer 2017.

My advice for future applicants is to not guess about how the process will go, this application process was very different from my first time so they change the process every year. Just be patient :)

&& Good Luck

Hello Would anyone who got accepted be willing to share their stats. I went to see if I will even be considered if I apply.

Hello cnursing... What exactly do you want to know?

GPA, how much volunteer experience, leadership experience, direct patient contact etc

Does anyone on this thread know what the acceptable Nutrition class is? I would like to complete the Prereq at ELAC but the MSMC website is not very clear on which classes would be acceptable. Any suggestions? I am hoping to apply Fall 2017. Your responses are appreciated!

Hi Susana480,

I took nutrition at WLAC,

Fam&CS 021 - Nutrition (it was online class)

Hi Cnursing,

My stats were pretty average. I had bout 1 year of volunteering experience, undergrad GPA is 3.4. I had a C in micro, and A's in all of my other prerequisites. I do think they look at your application as a whole. Good luck!

Can anyone that is currently in the Program discuss the low nclex pass rate? Does anyone know why it is so low compared to other local schools? Is it not properly preparing students?
