Mount Sacs Nursing program

U.S.A. California

I wanted to get some feedback on Mount Sacs nursing program from people that attend or have graduated. Do you like the program? Are the instructors helpful? How do they grade? As in As Bs Cs ext. any insight would be helpful.

Thank you

I'm not in the program just yet.. Waiting for fall 2014 or spring 2015 entry but I know a quite few people in who have graduated and who are still in the program... *Sidebar* My mom works at SACH and she said that they recently hired a lot of new grads from Mt. SAC... That's a plus especially when so many people are saying how difficult it is for ADN new grads to find work! Based off of what I have heard, Mt. SAC is a GREAT program. You have to get at least 75% to pass and if you don't, you get one chance to repeat the class the following semester. If you don't pass a 2nd time you are out! I heard that dosage calculation exams are given for each course and if you don't pass those, you are out of the program. It could easily sound intimidating to some but in all honesty if we are diligent about studying the proper way, using critical thinking and staying positive we will all do fine! I went to the Nursing Students Family & Friends Night last semester and immediately, I knew that Mt. SAC was my first choice...!I mean c'mon... They had el pollo loco catered for everyone lol!! But seriously, the simulation/skills lab didn't look outdated at all! The instructors seemed as though they genuinely care for their students success and that's a good sign!! What other schools are you considering?

Looking forward to reading responses in this thread! :) I think that if we all work together, we can definitely do well, especially with dosing calculation exams. Study groups are awesome, and maybe we can each buy a different book with calculation practice questions, and share them with the group! Anyway, hoping to hear from some current or graduated students. :)

thank you very much for your detailed answer! It sure does help (: I'm also in your shoes, waiting to hear if I got accepted for fall or spring. I got accepted at Rio hondo so I'm just trying to hear from both schools and see how people like there programs. My top choice is Mount Sac for Fall semester since I live so close but Rio Hondo starts in the summer. For prior family reasons, it would be convinent for me to start fall instead of summer so I'm really hoping For Mount sac. But none the less I'm SOOO beyond thankful to at least got accepted to one program. Was really worried to out of the billion schools I applied to I wasn't going to get accepted. Oooooooh great more conversions (dosage calculations) . Haha -_- yes study groups do wonders! Hopefully we all get accepted to the same semester and all help each other out. (:

Check that out, a thread I started last year for Mt SAC nursing (which I'm currently in) and I'll be replying/answering questions there. Or just msg me if you have comments/questions/concerns

Good luck :)
