Mt. SAC (Mt. San Antonio College) 2014 apps are reopened!
I just wanted to get some insight on the program and how it is? Love the program. My older brother graduated from Chaffey years ago and advised me not to go there. The program is amazing, very flexible with your real life schedule (however, you still need to prioritize nursing over your life for the next 2 years). Are the instructors helpful? Very much so. I have had no issues with any theory instructors and nor has my classmates to my knowledge. ALL theory instructors are SUPER helpful and they want you to succeed. When you go to their office hours for whatever reason, you can tell they want you to pass and they will try to help you out as much as they can. There is a slight exception to this. There are some clinical instructors (different than theory instructors) that some classmates have had issues with, but overall, everyone has passed every clinical so far. Do you feel like your going to be prepared for the nclex? Hard to say. I'm almost done with 3rd semester and have been averaging a B the whole program. The Kaplan testing which is mandatory per semester really helps out and puts you in an NCLEX style testing environment and I've been averaging 75% and higher which is good I guess. They do tell you that if you can average 75% on each Kaplan, you will be fine on NCLEX. No worries, I've been getting a lot of messages. I wouldn't have advertised myself if I didn't want to help out. Feel free to shoot me any and as many questions as you want. Good luck! FYI, I would pick Mt SAC nursing. You will NOT regret it. I have not heard anything about Rio Hondo from other friends or students so I duno how their place is but I seriously think Mt SAC is the best community college nursing program in SoCal. The Maternity theory instructor graduated from Rio Hondo MANY years ago and to this day she says Mt SAC is the best. Just wanted to share this email with everyone who is thinking about going to mount sac. I was talking to someone who is in there 3rd semester in the mount sac nursing program. Hope this helps everyone and makes your decision a little bit easier.

Thank you so much for your advice! Praying always does wonders. Mt sac is totally my first choice as well but i really want to start fall semester so i don't feel comfortable resigning my spot at Rio just yet because if i don't get in for Fall at Mount sac, i have Rio to fall back to.I hope im making sense. I wish Mount sac sent out letters earlier

but can't we just go to the orientation and resign our position after if we end up not choosing Rio Hondo? They can give the position to an alternate.

Hello I also got accepted at Rio hondo and I'm waiting to hear from mount sac. I went to my counceling app and she said I'm most likely in for Fall semester because I'm number 56. Hopefully nothing changes. But i was in the same boat if I should go to mount sac or Rio. Rio has a better Nclex score for 2012-2013 but mount sac is closer to me. Are you going to the orientation may 8th?

Mount Sacs Nursing program
thank you very much for your detailed answer! It sure does help (: I'm also in your shoes, waiting to hear if I got accepted for fall or spring. I got accepted at Rio hondo so I'm just trying to hear from both schools and see how people like there programs. My top choice is Mount Sac for Fall semester since I live so close but Rio Hondo starts in the summer. For prior family reasons, it would be convinent for me to start fall instead of summer so I'm really hoping For Mount sac. But none the less I'm SOOO beyond thankful to at least got accepted to one program. Was really worried to out of the billion schools I applied to I wasn't going to get accepted. Oooooooh great more conversions (dosage calculations) . Haha -_- yes study groups do wonders! Hopefully we all get accepted to the same semester and all help each other out. (:
