Motivation needed to get through Excelsior RN program

Published

Hi. My name is Dianne and I have been an LPN for 2 years. I started to take my pre-req's for Excelsior's ASN RN program Jan '11. I have completed the Sociology exam and I am about to take the Life Span and Development exam. These have not been terribly difficult classes but have taken me forever to complete due to motivation issues. I want to continue this track because I have to work (as a home care nurse) while I go to school. The thought of going to a community college to go through an RN program gives me the willies just thinking about it. LPN school was intense, I can only imagine what the RN program would be like.

So, I am wondering if anyone out there is currently taking classes through Excelsior and would be interested in a study buddy (virtual) or local ( I live in Mass). My next class is Transition from LPN to RN.

Looking forward to hearing from you. :)

i am interested. i am getting ready to do the transitions class before enrolling into the program. can you help me get started. can you tell me what classes can i take before enrolling into the program. i have my pre reqs out of the way.

Hello! I too am doing the Excelsior program! I live in CT and could help you virtually or occasionally in person! I have the majority of my prereqs done! I still have A&P, micro, information literacy (I have a girlfriend who is a RN BSN to proctor the Penn Foster exam) and 3 electives to complete along with the rest of the program! I've been working on it for a few years now but became pregnant and lost all motivation! Now my little one is 1 1/2 yo and I'm becoming increasingly more motivated! Please feel free to email me at [email protected] !

Whoa I use a ton of exclamation marks

Hello, my name is Tara. I too am currently going thru excelsiors LPN-RN program. I prefer this option because I work fulltime and have 4 children. I enrolled in March of 2011. However, due to having alot on my plate (recently married and purchased a home), I put off testing. I have recently gotten back into the groove of things. I had a few prereqs complete. Just finished information lit thru penn foster and an=m taking a&p thru straighterline and studying for transitions. I am having a little bit of difficulty staying on task and focused, so I would love to have a virtual study buddy. LOL. My goal is to be complete by december 2012 and I know thatI can do it. If any takers let me know. [email protected]

Hey ladies. My name is KJ and I figured I'd jump into the discussion as well. I'm currently at the beginning of my Excelsior nursing studies. I have completed all pre-reqs and have taken the Health Safety exam. I'm currently working on studying for the Transitions to RN exam before I officially apply to the program. I live in Maine and would be willing to meet half-way or be a virtual study buddy. It's always nice to have someone to bounce questions off of, compare study habits with or even get some encouragement from! I have a lot on my plate right now: full time job, building a house (yes, we are physically building it!) and expecting my first child. Despite a busy schedule, I've managed to come up with a good timeline and study strategies and I plan to be done with the exams by early to mid-summer. Then, it will be onto the FCCA & CPNE! I also have a slightly different perspective, being a paramedic and not an LPN.

If anyone wants a study buddy or even has a single question, feel free to contact me. My email is: [email protected]

Best of luck to all of you! :-)

Hi my name is May if you are still looking for a study partner email me at [email protected] Would like to complete RN program asap.

I too have hit a wall in the excelsior program. Life got in the way, divorce, moved, started full time work,etc..the typical excuses..LOL Anyway, I am almost done..I have 3 courses left. Life Spans 1, 2 & 3. I'm trying very hard to realize I'm close, and I've tried very hard to begin again. My plan is to do that after New Year's. Anyone willing to help, I'm willing to help you, as I've completed most of the program. Also, anyone out there with tips on the LS exams, I'm all ears!
