Most common non-emergency visits

Published

I found out that a number of women come into the ED complaining of nausea and vomiting. Really what they want is a pregnancy test.

It would have never occurred to me to go to the ED to get a pregnancy test when one can buy them for a few dollars at the pharmacy, dollar store, Wal-Mart, etc, etc, etc

Hmmm, what is wrong with me???? (j/k) :banghead:

We had a young lady come in the other night by EMS because when she got up during the night to use the bathroom, she stubbed her toe.

I work in a small rural Indian Health Hospital. I do not like it when th docs or other nurses c/o pts coming in for trivial matters b/c I would rather be busy than sitting on my butt all night. But what really irks me is the frequent fliers we have who call the EMS to get an ambulance at 3 am and they live 40 miles away. By the time they get here they check out AMA b/c they just wanted a ride to town. Irritating as all get out!

Yeah, our hospital is in the middle of several projects and after some of the hos are out tricking for the night they may wind out many miles from "home", so they call EMS to bring them to our hospital only to leave AMA because they just wanted a ride back to the projects.
