Morristown Memorial Hospital, salary for new RN graduate, externship

Published

have researched Morristown memorial hospital, and looks like a great place to work. Does anyone know the starting rate for a new RN graduate with a BSN. Is it hard to get a job at this hospital as a new grad?

Any info would help, thanks. Trying to decide which place would offer me the greatest opportunity to learn and excel in the nursing field.

Thanks.

i went to a job fair.

the atlantic health (the own MMH and Overlook in Summit) recruiter told me they're not hiring new grads, but they'll gladly take my resume and call me when they are.

my class mate had an externship in the OR there and was kept on at her position, so an externship is the best way to get into the program. good luck.

i hear it's a great place to learn.

Yes, I am also looking into Morristown. I am graduating in May with a BSN. It looks like they have a great training program, but I hear they are selective with new grads..

Specializes in Emergency.

AHS prefers to hire new grads that have done externships with them. They view the externship as a 2 month interview in which they (and the potential new grad hire) can see if it's a good fit.

On the other hand, 2 classmates who started at AHS (1 at MMH & 1 at overlook) left in less than 6 months d/t general unhappiness. 1 did an externship but the other didn't.

Good luck

Hi!

Morristown is a hard place to get in. It took me many interviews and lots of patients. I am an August graduate, I never did an externship program with them, and I got in! So don't lose hope. I never worked at Morristown and they took me. I got offered a perdiem position there at the post cardiac surgery unit (Gagnon 3). I start in December. Good luck!
