Moraine Valley Nursing Program...

Well, it is arguably one of the best ADN programs in the state. The accept about 40-50 students each year from an applicant pool of ~600-700. They have not, in the last 15 years, accepted anyone that was NOT within the community college district of which MVCC belongs. All pre-reqs must be completed before beginning the nursing sequence, so one is nearly forced to attend community college for 3 or 4 years for an associates degree. The dept/program is well equipped with simulators, mock-wards, and numerous other resources.

It is not an easy program to get into, nor is it an easy program in itself. It is afterall charged with the responsibility of producing competent nurses, which by definition, is a difficult occupation. While they place hurdles in spots throughout the program, they also help you get over those hurdles...to a certain degree.

MVCC is a great school...and I can't stress that enough. It's a beautiful campus with a tremendous amount of resources. Very few people in the district, and indeed outside the district, have not been touched by or benefitted in some way from MVCC.

Before, admissions was granted based upon gpa in the prerequisite courses, the amount of credits you received and having your cna certificate. Now it's all based on the teas and the cna class.
