3months pregnant.nursing school

Published

Well hello everyone. I have not been on here in awhile, but I know years ago when I had I received great encouragement, which is so needed right now. I am 3 months pregnant right now, I am going to be entering my 2nd year of nursing school in aug. This pregnancy was not planned but it did happen. I am 35 and have two children already 13 and 9 two boys. I have worked so hard and have sacrificed so much so that I can complete school. I am hoping to hear from anyone that has had a baby while in nursing school, or any advise from anyone. My baby is due in Sept and I will start back end of aug and be finished in April of 09. I do have family support. I know it will be hard but doesn't it help when you are determined???

Thank you for all these support responses. I too just found out I am pregnant. I was trully not expecting it. I thought my family was complete but I guess the higher ups had other plans. I have been waiting to get into the RN program for 2-3 years now and just received my acceptence letter 1st of April. I was so excited. Then this month I missed my period, did not think much of it because I'm always never regular but I wasn't feeling so good so I went in to get tested and this morning the results posted showing positive. Now I am freaking out because all I wanted was to go back to school and become an RN to take care of my family. I'm scared because I know how demanding NS is and with a 4 & 6 year old and a husband who is constantly working out of the home I really don't know how I will manage everything. I already informed him to take a larger role when I go into the program but now with a newborn to be in the basket also I don't know what we'll do. I guess I'm more scared of how I will manage being pregnant the first semester of NS not knowing what is really involved in it. The due date is Dec 26th so hopefully I will be able to "bank clinical time" to make up for in case I deliver early as well. I have orientation this week to get more info on NS so I'll plan better after that. (Hopefully better then last month:uhoh3:) I really don't know how to feel right now and I just needed to let it out. Thank goodness for this site. If anyone can give me advise or share stories of those who have gone through a similar experience please tell me what occured so I can get an idea of what to expect. THANKS...

I'm in the same situation. I am 26 weeks pregnant and was supppsed to be graduating this December. All started out well with being pregnant with our second child, working full time and school. But 3 weeks ago I started swelling and having blood pressure problems. I went to my doctor and was told I had protein and blood in my urine and my platelet count was low, all due to preeclampsia. So needless to say ,I've been hospitalzed for close monitoring and had to take my last test and final of the semester while here in the hospital. I only have 2 semesters left so after the birth of my daughter I plan to go back to school full force to finish.

Going to school while pregnant is possible but you just never know how you're body will react to the pregnancy, which is out of your control. They say every pregancy is different and that is true because I never had any serious blood pressure issues with my 1st child. Goodluck!!!!!
