Montgomery College, how long?

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I sent in my application for the fall at Montgomery College today. The deadline is March 1st. Does anyone know about how long I can expect to wait before I get an answer?

Thx,

Nikki

Besides, fall registration opens a week from Monday. I'd like to get my schedule in order so I can start seeking proper childcare. I was told the clinicals start a week or two into the semester. 10 hours a week plus there are some hours you have to contribute to clinical lab. So how do I know what days/hours to get a sitter/nanny?

Plus I think we have to get First Aid, CPR training and a Tetna shot all before starting the program.

It was suggested to me that I take the medical terminology classes over the summer but the online ones are full already.

I'm sure they would catch he** if they did that, esp. since it's a county/ funded college. I'm sure that they have very specific rules and procedures that they have to follow. I have a very good feeling that we'll all be accepted. Not to worry.

Hmmm, good point. But, I'm sure that the scheduling will fall into place. I can only imagine the number of mother's who were in the same predicament before you. It will all work out. I know it's frustrating right now, but just try to get as much done as you can now and take care of everything else when you get your acceptance letter. See, I'm already thinking positively that you'll get in.

I know. I'm just anxious. Feeling antsy and restless.

Hi Ladies,

I didn't receive any notices of your posts!!

Monster620: Glad to hear you had a great time away with Beth. My weekend went by too quickly.

neyman: Thanks for the info. Not enough qualified apps? That's unusual for Fall, isn't it?-since there should have been at least 300-400 apps?

I wanted to share with you both...I got a strange message last night, Sun. eve (just heard it today). I didn't get a complete message. According to caller ID, it was TP/SS main number. It seemed to be an automated message telling me that they received my app. But since the message cut off, I have no idea what the remaining message was. Talk about leaving someone hanging...

I already received a letter a month or so back stating my app was received. Any ideas? I'm getting really worried. So far the two women I spoke with have no idea. I left a message with the registrar for the dept. Could it be a rejection?...in a phone message?

That's weird Lil Dragon (please share real name). I too got the letter awhile back. I didn't receive a call though. Have you tried calling Dada Akitobi? She was the one accepting all the applications. Or try Charmaine Cruise to see if she can direct you. She heads up the nurse retention/TEAS aspect of the program. Please let us know if you find out what that was all about.

I doubt they would give you a rejection via automated message. I think they'd do that with a letter. If anything they'd give the good news by phone. But my guess is that it was a programming/system error or test.

I get anxious every time I check the mail even though I know it is likely I won't get anything for another month. The suspense is killing me.

Hi Nikki,

I sent you a private message.

Have you guys looked at the classes for the first semester yet? I have an idea as to which times I want. However, I am debating taking them all on a Monday. Think that would be too much? I live in Germantown so driving to Takoma park is a bit of a trek. Either that or I will take two of them on Mon and the third later in the week to spread it out. Registration starts in a week...me, oh my! I wonder if we can register and hold classes until we hear from them.

Hi,

I haven't looked at the class schedule yet. I'll most likely try for a 2 or 3 day schedule. I read in another post that we can split up our clinical rotations: two half days. But I'd like to get it done in one day. I'm in G'Burg. Not looking forward to the 270-495 traffic jam. I think we're locked out from registering for nursing courses until we have been accepted. Let me know if you try to register. Thanks and have a nice eve.

Problem is two of the classes are only offered on Monday. That is why I was thinking of just doing all three on Monday. I was planning on taking classes once traffic died down in the morning and hopefully be heading home before the afternoon rush hour. Yes, you can do two five hour clinical shifts or one 10 hour. Where were you thinking of doing your first semester clinicals at? We aren't too far apart then if you are in Gburg.

The classes offered on Monday only: are they NU courses? I wonder why only Monday is offered. I think you have a good idea with trying to get the classes done in one day. I'd prefer that too. I don't have a particular location I want. I'd like a place close to home.

I'm not sure why they do that but, yes. NU105, NU110, NU121 are the ones we take our first semester. 105 and 110 are the ones only offered on Monday. 121 is offered every day. I had figured out that if I were to do it all day on Monday I would have class from 8 am until 6 pm with an hour break in between to eat/snack. That's a pretty long day and, of course, there will be tons of traffic.
