Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).
hi everyone!
hope you had a great weekend!
i am dropping my stuff off at mc today - finally!!
i saw a few earlier posts about shoes - has anyone bought anything? i am wavering between new balance sneakers for the support or maybe investing in some danskos. i noticed all the nurses and docs at my drs office wearing the danskos and they all said they were super comfortable.
Nikki, what's Colleen's email?
Rosh, I got the Propet brand- white lace-up sneaker style, very comfortable and lightweight. I've read good things about Dansko. I found my pair for an excellent price so didn't want to pass it up. I figured I'd try them out and buy a different brand in the future if these don't measure up.
You can find her email by going to the nursing website and looking at the staff list. I think I am just going to wait until tomorrow and ask Dianna.
As for how I am feeling...the only other symptom I have is a cough. Hopefully it isn't pneumonia or strep. I don't have a fever though so who knows.
Hey girls!
Just got back from dropping off my paperwork. I didn't know there were two boxes...one inside the office and one outside. The office was open when I got there, so the receptionist told me to put it in the box that was inside the office. The security guard was a little creepy...he was like "What's going on in the nursing dept. today that's attracting all the pretty ladies?" I was like um...EWWW!!! Lol
So sorry to hear you're not feeling 100% Nikki. It's probably just the heat. My grandfather was rushed to the emergency room a couple weeks ago because he got overheated. He felt dizzy, light-headed, and nauseous and then actually vomited. They gave him fluids for a few hours and sent him home with strict orders to rest and to stay cool and hydrated. This heat is enough to make anyone feel yucky.
I'm sooo relieved that my stuff is turned in! I don't know about calling to confirm. Seems like it'd be pretty safe in a locked box. However, you know me...I'm paranoid about everything. I imagine someone on the waiting list somehow getting into the locked box, taking someone's envelope full of stuff, and swiping it so that person gets dropped from the program. LOL...isn't that horrible of me to think about things like that?! Sometimes I really wonder what's wrong with me...
I meant to tape my envelope over the clasp but I forgot to so I hope our paperwork is safe in there!

Wow, what a busy weekend! We went to Annapolis and Kent Island after dropping off my med stuff on Sat. Then yesterday we decided to go up to Anteitem and Harpers Ferry.
I don't know if it is the heat but for the past 3 days I've been feeling very light headed and dizzy. I would think if something is wrong with me it would have been caught in my blood work and physical.
I think we will probably be given enough pockets to carry stuff. Frankly, I've never seen a nurse carry anything more than their stethoscope, a watch and a pen.
Sure is a lot of med-surg for clinicals. At least we don't have to do geriatrics. I think I would quit. ;-P I had to volunteer in high school as part of my graduation requirements. I opted for a nursing home because it was close by. Man, that was a miserable experience. They were cranky and mean.
Andrea - my first choice is also SG, for convenience. MG is my second. I plan on taking classes M/F w/clinicals on T/W.
