Montefiore School of Nursing fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, is there anyone applying to MSON for the upcoming fall semester?

Did you guys purchase all the textbooks on that list? It's a lot and I'm not sure if everything is necessary

For now, I am only purchasing the books we need to read. They cost so much money.

Anyone commuting from a different borough to the school? Debating on if I should commute or just get an apartment near the school. Traffic has been fine since we are still in phase two, but once everything opens back up, the traffic on the highways are going to be insane again.

I am coming from the Bronx, which is not far. All my transportation needs are a little far but doable. I think it all depends on where you live, how your commute will be, how much it will cost if you need to take a cab, and will anyone be able to take you to school if you need them to? I have planned out all my worst-case scenarios because I'm a worrywart. I am going to do a trial run to school and see how long it really would take me to take public transportation so that I won't get lost on my first day. Maybe that's overkill, but I will know what the commute is. That's just me!

Did anyone submit payment for the nursing uniforms yet? I just sent them a money order because I couldn't place the order online. For some reason it wouldn't let me add the embroidery. But I know when you send money orders it has to be the exact amount. I wasn't sure if there was tax on the clothing items. I emailed the reps at Cintas and they said no. But, I'm not even sure they knew what I was talking about.

If you already paid for uniforms please share what method of payment you used, as well as if you sent the application in via mail, fax, or ordered online.

Thanks.

I emailed them with the form filled out. They placed my order the very next day, you do need CC information and they also charge for embroidery, which is $6.95 per item.

I think it's rather silly, however, even if your bloodwork shows that you are immune to varicella, measles, mumps, rubella. You still need the titers. This is the only program that, I know of that, requests blood titers even when the person is fully immune, and has records of all vaccines.

So, don't forget to get lab values for everything. Save yourself the extra trip.

Titers are required pretty much across the board for nursing programs. Even if you were vaccinated that does not mean that you have immunity necessarily hence why the titers are done

At Pace they were not required, but now I know some schools require them. And, now, hopefully other people will know, too.

My friend is in Pace’s program and they required all the titers as well ?

That’s incorrect.
