Montefiore school of nursing fall 2019

Anyone else applying to montefiore for the fall. I am so nervous but so excited because I really want to go to this school.

So I took the Kaplan exam today . I got a 70 and wasn’t happy about it . I got and 85% on math and 85% on the science . I can’t remember what I received with the reading and writing but the score wasn’t good . I hate reading and I kept hearing too much tapping on the keyboards and it was bit of a distraction for me. I literally couldn’t focus and wanted to get the reading out the way .

Stay positive! I know of people who got in with scores in their 60s! Can u give any info on math section? I’m struggling with that I’m absolutely terrible with word problems fractions literally anything that involves numbers!!!

Thank you I hope so because I don’t know how they decide who gets a seat. But the math is pretty simple . There are 2-3 reciprocals ( one of them didn’t make sense . The answer I got was not a choice and reciprocals are super easy). Lots of adding and subtracting (watch out for your decimals ), percentage which could be tricky because 2 out of the 4 options means the same and I didn’t know which one to choose (example 0.072 % is the same as : ), dosage questions , proportions , ratios, LCD, percent increase (new number/old number x100%), and basic algebra (finding x). I have a lot of chemistry background which is why the math portion was easy.

Oh boy I’m not going to lie you just made me more nervous — I can’t find anything that great to help me study all of that... the dosage calculations make me nervous too and once things are put into word problems I’m lost. Math overall is my weakest point.

From what I know, they determine acceptance based on gpa, Kaplan scores, and how many of the prereqs you have finished. All of that combined so if u have more pre reqs done and or a higher gpa than other students you may still have an upper hand than those who got high test scores but don’t have as high of a gpa or as much done. Don’t quote me on any of this but from speaking to people through past blogs and that have been accepted that’s what I’ve gathered.

@JCT2019 don’t worry about it , stay positive. I’m not really worry about the math or science. I worry about the reading and English. Can you please tell me how are the reading passage? What topic are passage about? Are the passages long ?

Everyone got the emails? Tomorrow I am going to make a video and post it to YouTube with the link like jahmesia did. I honestly used all my resources and digged through this website on every single Kaplan post I saw lol even the one from 2009 lol lol ? I wrote things down from everywhere and anywhere and I was really stressed out I called out of work the day before the exam and I kept having panic attacks the night before so I did not sleep!!!! The proctor at montefiorre said a 75 and over is a very good score. So guys don’t stress the Kaplan is short with the questions so a few questions wrong and you are easily in the 70’s range. Just breathe guys. I promise u once you finish the exam you will laugh about it because it’s not as bad as we tell ourselves. And yes I admit the reading and the writing are very boring but so are the passages in the ACT books. Buy one if u can or borrow one. Do as many question because believe it or note it’s the same style questions as the Kaplan.
