Hey, Has anyone applied to the program yet?

I appreciate your insight, but honestly you might not even be aware of changes that are happening behind the scenes due to COVID-19. You were in our shoes at one point wishing, and hoping you got accepted. I’m just trying to put some positively in the universe.
Whatever changes are being implemented are affecting us, so I actually am aware and just trying to give an insight on whats going on. I wished I knew more info when I was waiting to find out, we didn't even know the ratio of students who applied/got accepted. I did a ton of research and it was impossible to find and the school did not share it with us until after we got our acceptance packages. The school is trying to limit the amount of people that are physically in the building due to covid, and our program is currently half in person and half online, its possible that covid restrictions may force us to go fully online at one point, however, it's also possible by the time you guys get to your last semester that we may all be in person again and we usually are in regular sized classrooms so more students can not physically fit. We only have a certain amount of faculty for clinical and the groups are 6-7 people. They are not going to accept MORE people when we barely can make it work with the class sizes we have now. Our class is up to 48 people because of people failing and having to re-do a semester
Your still trying to prove your point on the school not accepting more students, when I never said once they would. You win LOL, I’m not going back and fourth with you. It’s called wishful thinking. Once again I appreciate your insight. I’m sure you have better thing to do like study. I just want to keep the positive vibes going with the rest of the group, who like me need any support they can get right now.?

No problem! Let me know if you have other questions, I remember scorning through previous threads for any info cause it was so limited!! I know personally any info I could find help me sleep a little bit better LOL I'm seriously rooting for all of you I hope no one took my response as being negative we're all in the same boat of dreaming and working on getting our RN! This program isn't the end all-be all so don't let anything discourage or stop you from shooting for your dream

Agreed!! I was trying to figure out how that whole conversation was going left. We are all on the same path and striving for the same thing. Having insight can do-nothing but help. Ladies lets look at the bigger picture, we won't all get in but we are all trying to become nurses!! if not this program we will find the one that best suits us. I appreciate all comments left both from new/current students and applicants as we are all the same. Lets keep the peace and stay safe ?
All my post have been nothing but positive, and in support of this community. I’m not trying to speak for everyone, and one student can speak for the entire administration of a school. Like I mentioned more than once her insight is appreciated. I will continue to try to uplift everyone like I have been trying to do since my very first post. I hope everyone will continue to remain motivated to get through this process. This support is necessary, and important!

Thanks for your insight! If you don't mind me asking, is this your first year? How have the classes been (pre/post COVID) and how has your experience been overall?

This is not my first year! The way that classes are structured is actually kind of different than other programs and I personally enjoy it. They combine everything (patho, pharmacology, etc) into one big lecture with one professor which you have 2 days a week, N1 and N2 have a lab where you get validated on skills, which is one day a week, and our clinicals are Satudays from 6:45-4pm at 4 different hospital sites (Mt Vernon, New Rochelle, Moses and Einstein).
N1 is the fundamentals of the course, N2 is all adult med surg, N3 is psych, maternity, and peds med surg, and N4 is critical care and leadership
Now with covid, one lecture is online, and one in class, lab skills are taught online and then validated in person, and clinical is in person.
My experience has been fine honestly, some students have struggled with the communication aspect and structure in the school, but it has not affected me personally. I am trying to make the best of my experience here and try to get as much as I can out of nursing school to prepare me for the boards. Every program has flaws (I have friends in other nursing programs and they have similar stories) and especially with covid there is a huge learning curve on how we can keep the students and faculty safe and still make education as effective as possible
I hope this helps let me know if you have anyyyy other questions at all!

When do you have lecture? Every day? I currently work full time and was going to continue full time while in school since I completed my pre-requisites prior to applying. Thanks again!

The evening program is two days a week from 6-10, lab is one day a week from either 6-8 or 8-10 (they split up the class for lab so theres less people (20) in each group and we can actually see the demonstration and practice the skills in the lab) and clinical is on saturdays
