Good morning!
Stars being relieved at someone's passing is not an unusual feeling. I know you miss what was prior to him getting ill and the promise of what could have been. That I'm sure is a difficult process, but it's a process, allow yourself that.
Just got back in from a 40 minute inservice on how to access an infusion port, something I've done for years but I guess now needs to be official since we apparently had an infection from a port we accessed recently. Guess there isn't a way to know for sure that it was caused by us accessing it or other blood born pathogens but we got dinged for it.
I'm not a fan of risotto but maybe I just haven't had a good one. The arepas turned out good, but I made them too thin to stuff like some cultures do and put beans and vegan cheese on top of them instead.
I started my application for Medicare because that's what 65 year olds do. It was pretty easy online. Not sure what else needs to happen but apparently they review it and get back to you. It said I have until December to returned some signed paperwork. I'm sure they have it all down. I'll worry about the other parts when I lose my insurance when I retire.
I had a fitful morning of sleep after around 4AM but was able to settle myself and get back to sleep and got up at 6AM to feed the dogs and start the day. Nothing much going on today.
I thought I was going to say "Nothing much going on today, here, either." BUT! I was wrong! I have to go to Wally World for a refill and we are out of yogurt and milk. I may drag Nannie along to sit in the car while I run in and get things. But I may not, because it is supposed to be 87 degrees with a "feels like" of 92 degrees, and because the humidity is 75%....eek!
She has just finished her raisin-bran-crunch with banana slices, and her BOOST and her cranberry juice. I may wait a bit to see if she is going to doze off; if she does I'll go out and make quick work of it. (*fingers crossed*)
Later-----
On the road, somewhere in NE Oklahoma. We got started around 10:30. It has POURED rain up until now. The highway is very wet now bit at least it isn't raining.
There's a rest stop that forms a "bridge" over the turnpike. It used to bill itself as the "World's Largest McDonalds" but no more. In our many travels with kids we called it the "World's Fastest Drivethru" (as in they'd toss food to you as you drove under) 😂. Anyway, we stopped there but rather than get Gma out in the rain I went in and got food to eat in the car.
Twin A did not get told not to come to work today so they must think OKC will clear up enough for people to want to go to the zoo.
We are planning to stay the night in Rolla, Missouri.

Tweety I don't think I've ever had arepas
NJ22 I tried making risotto recently but for some reason the rice didn't get cooked enough
Ado it sounds like you are well prepared for your trip
Londonflo it seems odd that your Social Security office was closed for that long, with no temporary location
Stars I'm glad you were able to get the Social Security stuff done. You definitely could use a break
Quieter day yesterday. Headed to church a bit early so I could get ready to serve as assisting minister. Then came home and did the cooking for the week, catfish with a dill sauce. Rest of the day was pretty quiet
Was going to try and ride the Prairie Path, but found out my bike rack doesn't fit the new car, and the bike will not fit in the back like it did with the old one. So I rode around the neighborhood instead. Thought of trying to get a new bike rack, but I only use it once or twice a year so it really wouldn't be worth it
Nothing unusual planned for today. Waiting to see if I hear back from the other body shop, if not I will contact the first one and start planning when to bring my car in for repair
Going to be warm today, in the upper 80s, probably won't rain
