Hi everyone. I am a 27 year old SAHM to 4 boys ages 6, 4, 2 and 7 weeks. I am trying to plan my schedule for next semester. The plan was to only take 2 classes however I am now leaning towards 4 (13 credit hours). I only have 12 credits currently and would like to start nursing school (BSN) in the Spring of 2010. I wrote up a mock schedule and think it would be in my best interest to take a full load now with the "easier" classes before I have to take the harder classes so that I can take less hours then. My concern is whether or not 13 hours would be too much to take on right now with 4 kids considering one is only 7 weeks old. I think that I can do it but it kind of scares me. My classes will be in the evenings. I will only be gone Monday (5 hours), Tuesday(2 hours) and Thursday (5 hours) nights. My dh will have the kids in the evening.
Anyways, what do you think? Am I taking on too much???
Hehe, I'm sorry, didn't mean to give the wrong idea. I had the opportunity in high school to take AP Biology and AP Anatomy and Physiology (which was 9 years ago also). As a high school student then, if you have the opportunity and know what you want to do after high school, counselors would suggest the courses to take that would help us in college towards our major.
I have also worked as a CNA through college so these information was a constant refresher to me. After 5 years of stepping away from college I'm now back and trying to get my career back on track. I find it very helpful to review not from one source but several sources that can help you to understand the subject. You can also search online for information if necessary, there are online study guides.
I'll post up later on when I can find out the websites I've been refreshing my memories from also.

Yes, I bought the study guide, at our school you don't take the TEAS until you are accepted, so I have only a week to get this stuff together for the test. I'll be ok, we don't need a very high to pass, and if we fail they give you a course and you get 1 more chance to take it again.
I am a 27 year old SAHM as well, to a 5, 3, 20 month old and am now 10 weeks pregnant. I am taking 3 classes next semester. My husband will be watching the children while I go to school. I have been taking classes for the last 2 semesters with little ones at home. In my experiece taking classes with kids at home is doable if you know that not everything is going to get done. When I first went back and took bio and math last spring, I wanted a clean house and laundry finished, everything done everyday, but it just was not doable with homework and play time with the kids. The hardest part for me was finding time to do homework and study which was usually when the kids went to bed, and dealing with a less than perfectly cleaned house. I wish you the best of luck, and think if you think you can do it, then you can!
I would wait until your youngest is in preschool. They are only young once, and I believe you may regret not being more present for them while they are so little. It isn't the CLASS time that is problematic, but rather the study time. You are supposed to figure 2 hours of study time per week per unit you are taking. That would work out to a full time job. CAN you do it? Probably, but I wouldn't.

We take the TEAS also. The science part scares the crap out of me.
