MoMac vs. Cent./Ryerson Collab Programs

Published

Hey everyone!

I've been accepted to MoMac and the Ryerson-Centennial collaborative programs. I've already completed a BSc degree at Western, so I'll be a mature student (23 when the program starts). Does anyone have experience or know of anyone who's recently done either of these programs (especially as a mature student)?

McMaster is much closer to where I live (30min vs. 1 1/5 hrs), however, I'm worried about the PBL. I'm also wondering if people have had success transferring credits from a previous degree (at McMaster or Ryerson), and if it's possible to transfer to an accelerated stream if pre-reqs are completed and grades are high.

I've emailed both programs, but the deadline to accept my Mac offer (therefore rejecting my Cent/Ry offer) is May 29th. Just looking for any outside perspectives!

Sorry, I dont have too much insight on either program. But congratulations on your acceptances! I'm a mature student (25) with a BSc from UWaterloo and will be starting at MoMac in September.

My sister went to Ryerson for her BScN and she told me that about 40% of the class are mature students. Nursing seems to be a second career for a lot of students so I dont think being a mature student will be much of an issue. There are a lot of us apparently. I think Mac even has a club for mature nursing students.

As long as the credit being transferred is university level and at least a certain grade (depending on the school you are attending) it shouldn't be a problem. Most likely it will be an elective. For the core courses such as english or stats, you might need to verify with the academic advisers and provide the course outlines.

That makes me feel a bit better, thank you! Congrats on your acceptance as well! Hopefully I'll see you in September ?
