Mom of 3 trying to go back to school

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Mother of 3 children, ages 2,4, and 6. Everytime I try to go back to school, there is always something holding me back. I work in labor and delivery as a unit secretay, and I love it. It was a great chance to get my foot in the door. I feel like labor and delivery is where my heart is at (other than my family). I am working on getting my CNA. How can I work full-time, raise 3 kids, be a good wife, and go to nursing school? Or am I just out of my mind. My husband is very supportive, but he is all the support I have. I would love some advice.

Thanks,

MYA

Father of 3 girls aged 8,3.5 and 1. Caring full time for disabled wife, studying nursing full time externally and surviving on a $1400 p/m pension. It is by no means easy, but it is possible. Follow your dreams, it will be worth it :)

Please let me say you are the BOMB!!! I am so thankful that there are still such dedicated men in the world. Your wife and your girls are lucky beyond their knowledge. Best wishes to you!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - anything is possibly if you want it badly enough (and are willing to work hard enough to achieve it).

I'm a 27yo mom of 2 boys (ages 5 and 2) and have worked full time for the past 4-5 years while I've done my pre-reqs. My hard work has paid off and I'm going to be able to leave my job this summer and attend nursing school full-time.... living off of scholarship and grant money, so it'll be tight around here for a while. In my opinion, the end result will be worth the temporary sacrifice.

I am married, but my husband lives on the other side of the state (because of his job). We actually appreciate each other more now that we see each other less often.....

Good luck! :)

it can be done but i will tell you from experience everyone sacerfices/suffers...im telling you though by the time i graduated that if i would have had to go through the stress of taking one ,more test , missed my kids one more minute i would have quit .. and i had all the support of my kids my parents and my husband ... and with all that i nearly lost my mind ....be prepared to feel like a horrible mother , wife , and person cause while your in school there is no time to be all that you need to be .. i also worked weekends friday saturday and sunday ....the entire time i went to school .....so unless your superwoman fulltime is out of the question it was for me but there was ones in school that did work full time and school full time but had no kids ......i dont want to scare you from nursing, just be prepared for a long hard ride ...i can tell if its what you really want then its very possible to do and can be done .....good luck......i graduated a year ago in may ,,, so its all still to familar to me and how i felt.....
