do you know exactly where Malloy is located? i think its somewhere in long island but not quite sure if you do know please post a reply i live in queens, nyc and wanted to see how far it would be.thanx lots.:)
I am currently enrolled in the Molloy graduate program. I did not attend this program as an undergraduate, and am completely thankful!! I do not recommend this program. it is unorganized and lacks proper preparation in your field. Your experience is based on what you learn during your preceptorship, however; because you, the student, are in charge of networking and finding a preceptor on your own, you may be at a disadvantage. The core courses (your foundation) are a repeat of undergrad. Once completed, you are expected to think as a Nurse Practitioner, but the curriculum fails to properly guide students during this transition. My advice, if you are considering grad school, go to stony brook, NYU, Columbia, Hunter, or Pace.
Molloy has alot of great professors teaching there. They really know their stuff! A small handful are horrible I admit, but that may very well be the case at any nursing school! (I'll not be naming anyone!!) But more often than not you will see people forming a bond with certain professors - as I have - and I am pretty sure I will remember some of them for the rest of my life (er -the good and the bad - HA!)
The division of nursing at Molloy cares about our success - at least that is the impression I get. There are probably some students who disagree with that statement. It is a tough program, but nursing is a tough field. In my opinion, in order to be successful, you have to stay on top of your learning - take it into your own hands. Some students want it to be handed to them.
The staff there will work with you if you are getting into trouble with your grades. They don't want to see anyone fail. The lab is crowded but the staff there truly want you to learn your skills. They will work with you one-on-one if time allows and if they see you really struggling.
Okay - so I am rambling away here - sorry - I hope I've answered your question.
Good luck!
