St. Charles Community College Nursing Student

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Hi. I am new to this website - I just registered today.

I am starting the nursing program at St. Charles Community College this Fall semester. I have read over the program information for both the lab and lecture and it looks pretty intense, especially the lab.

I see that a lot of outside practice is required for the labs. If anyone is interested in being a partner with me for the sake of practicing their labs, please let me know.

My class schedule is as follows:

Monday and Wednesday Lecture: 8 to 9:50am

Tuesday Lab: 2 to 4pm

Thursday and Friday clinicals starting at 7am until noon

I am not employed so I am pretty open.

I would love to make new friends for school. Let me know if anyone is interested in getting in touch - especially if we have the same class/lab schedules.

Awesome :) great job!

I already actually am BLS/CPR AHA certified through my work, so that is under my belt, too. So relieved.

My last injection is June 28, last one, so I can get my paperwork in well ahead of time, too. So nice. :)

So what days/time are you guys going to be in class? I am just trying to gage time wise what I could have available for work.

I have lecture M and T 4-5:50pm. I have lab M 6-7:50pm. And when clinicals start they will be W and Th 3-8. I know they are telling people not to work but I have to because I'm paying for this myself. I don't qualify for any financial aid. I am looking into getting an apartment in St Charles because it would save me so much money in tuition, gas, and even time. Right now I live in St Louis City and that drive is like 45 minutes. I don't imagine I'll feel like making that trip after a long day of work and classes everyday.

I will be in the 10a-11:50a lecture M/W, 10a-11:50a lab Tues. I have my evening clinicals W/Th 3-8, will be working Fridays and Saturdays 2nd/1st mid-shift on my job. On call on Mondays 2nd shift. I'm on my school schedule right now with those hours and days I'm working; so far it works out beautifully. I couldn't be happier with my work schedule as it complements my school schedule ideally for fall semester. I need the extra work hours, too, as I pick up open shifts at least once a week lately. One extra shift a week seems to help enough, making the difference between 2 or 3 bills each month.

It's a difficult thing juggling home, kids, work, and school, let alone having adequate time for one's self.

any luck in finding a place in St. Charles yet?

Well I am supposed to start in august 2012 if all goes as planned with the test, I dont know how many people are in front of me. I have been debating about seeing if I can start in 2013 just to see if I can save more money so I can work less. You should look into moving out to st charles, I live out here and love it. Especially with gas prices the way that they are.

@tidebeckons...no luck yet and I really want to find a place before classes start so I can get in district tuition. Everything seems a bit out of my price range. I was wanting to pay $500 per month or less. Hopefully something comes up soon.

Well I am at triangle apartments and its 480 a month for a 1 bedroom 730sq feet, you just have to make less than 38,300 a year, but its a very nice place, a lot of elderly people live here so its a nice quiet community. Its in St. Peters by 364 if that gives you a idea, that is the cheapest/safe/nicest place I could find in the area.

Tshirtgirl...thanks so much i'm definitely going to check them out. I definitely make less than 38,300 so i'll see if they have something available.

We are more than half way through the summer! Are we ready fellow St. Charles nursing students? I do my CPR renewal on Tuesday and I think I'm good to go....

Are any of you taking the Tools for Success class? I'm taking it afternoon times in August, I figured it couldn't hurt anyway...

Hope you find a place soon ydbush30! Even if you pay a lil more rent than you do now, you will definitely save $ in gas with gas prices the way they are.

TideBeckons, I did not know that was the grading scale for nursing, but it makes sense. I'm (almost) ready for the challenge ahead....

for all of you who know me as tidebeckons, you can call me Liz :)

paramedical, I know what you mean... August will be just around the corner just like that. Still trying to recover A&P material that I lost somewhere at work, but I've many other materials that I've been looking over here and there. It's not too much of an issue.

I am taking the Tools class in early August afternoons, too. I'm sure it will be informative and helpful. Going to take a trip with my husband the week before so we can unwind and just take it easy before I return to school. haven't done any such thing since before our daughter was born.

Hey guys! I'm excited too. I'm taking that Nursing Tools class tomorrow! I can't wait to see what they have to say. I'm also gonna take a little trip before classes start too. I feel like i need to relax and rewind before classes start I can't wait to meet you guys in the fall.
