Mira costa or Grossmont ROP LVN program?

Published

I'm looking into the LVN programs available in the SD area....anyone have any input? I couldn't find any detailed info online about the Grossmont program. However Mira costa says they're full until 2010. Thanks!

I am in the LVN program at the Grossmont Health Occupations Center. Its in Santee off Mast. It's an 18 month program, its ROP so its VERY inexpensive... 2,500 bucks. Your books, uniform, lab equipment. Everything included. And you can tell the teachers really want you to succeed. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

hi rachelh,

i tried looking for more info on the web about that program but there wasn't that much. do you have to be a CNA? is there a certain application period? maybe i'll just have to go down there and check it out!

The requirements for the program are "healthcare essentials" and CNA... which I believe is also required for City college anyway. I know the Grossmont ROP website is pretty basic. Their phone number is 619-596-3690.

great thanks! i will give them a call.

Rachel or Belle,

I am also interested in the Grossmont LVN program. So the healthcare essentials course is absolutely required before placing an application, right? I am moving out to SoCal from NY next year and just want to be prepared :)

Where did you guys take your healthcare essentials course and how much was it? (Also, how long did it take?)

Rachel - was the wait list to get into Grossmont LVN as long as rumor has it to be?

I graduated from GHOC about three years ago. I took the HE class and the CNA class there as well. If you can get into GHOC you will get a great education. The LVN instructors have their quirks but really want you to succeed.

i decided not to go the LVN route and am now on a wait list for an RN program. but going the LVN route definitely will get you working sooner. i've only heard good things about the grossmont rop program. good luck!

I looked into both, I believe you do have to be a CNA for both. I am currently studying for the TEAS test for grossmont and will be taking healthcare essentials this August. I have a question to RachelH, you said you're in the LVN program at grossmont. I was wondering how hard the TEAS test was ? Also I took healthcare essentials 2 years ago but dropped de to family issues, will they allow you to retake it?

JenRN2011- Do you know if there's a waiting list for the LVN program at Grossmont Health Occupations center?? If there is do you know how long is it? Was it difficult to get into the program?? I took the HE class and the CNA class already. I'm taking the TEAS exam next month.
