New grad pay ?

U.S.A. Minnesota

Published

I am a new grad in MN. I recently started a RN job. I feel as though my base pay is low. I wanted to see how accurate glassador is and if I did get low balled.

How much do you make as a new grad in MN?

That's a tough question. I think if you love your job and can pay the bills, it doesn't really matter. I'm moving from Montana to accept a job in MN. I'll tell you that pay was over $10 an hour more (as a new grad) in MN than MT. Also, Montana was much more expensive to live. I think it's all relative, really. Where are you working?

As a new grad I started at $34/hour inpatient two years ago.

$32 per hour right now at HCMC

Also started at 34/hr as a new grad 1.75 years ago. Making 36 base now.

I'm in a private clinic- $27.50/hr. I believe I would make more at a bigger health system. But, I like my job. No nights, weekends, and paid holidays off!

What did they offer you?

It will also make a difference if you are a 2 year vs 4 year for starting pay. I believe most hospitals that are union are on the same pay scale in the Minneapolis area. (which I believe is all major except Fairview Ridges which opened during a major nursing strike).
