military RN as a civilian

Published

Hi everyone!

I have a quick question for you: I would like to apply for an RN position in the army as a civilian. I 've looked through government jobs and there is an announcement for multiple locations and specialities closing in February. I just wanted to know how difficult it is to get a position with the army and what chances do I have with 1 1/2 years of tele experience as an ADN ( I also have a BA). I would move anywhere in the Coastal states or Germany. If you have any tips on applying for military jobs, please let me know- all comments would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I've applied for the multi-location jobs on usajobs.gov since I was eligible (last July), and I've been found qualified but have never heard a word since. This is one reason I'm looking at going active duty -- nothing ever panned out for me on the civilian end! However, I was applying as an ER nurse; you might have different luck as a tele nurse, depending on the military's needs. Good luck!!

Thank you for the reply. I am a little discouraged. I can not go active duty- my kids don't do well with 3 12 hour shifts, let alone deployments!

Here is an job post from Kaiserslautern American, the KMC area newspaper. Don't know if it will help.

As I said, I applied and qualified as an ER nurse. The need for tele nurses may be greater. Give it a try!
