Might sound stupid...but need opinions!

Okay, so I got accepted to TWU nursing school in Houston, but I live in Dallas. So I just found out I have to move to a new town (AGAIN...3rd in the past year). I was thinking about getting a dog for companionship at my new place, and I was just wondering from nursing students who have been at it for a while if you think I would have time for a new dog? Let me know your thoughts on this it is much appreciated.

Yeah maybe a hampster would be a better idea...or a rabbit. haha okay okay...FISH! :) thanks guys i think i already know its not a good idea..but i love dogs so much and i really wanted to have someone to take care of and keep me company in a new town. It wouldn't be fair to keep a dog in an apartment either and that's something that would make me feel really bad especially if i can't find the time to take them out for a walk often...and leaving them in a cage all day while i'm gone is just cruel. My dad's dog has a big backyard and a polaris in the pool to chase all day while we're gone, then she sleeps in her own room on a bed that nobody uses haha. she's got it made. I think i'll leave that to the day i can own my own house and my own backyard and give a dog the life it deserves..

Glad you took time to think about it. I think everyone needs animals but I also don't think it would be fair to the dog while you will have such a big committment with school. And I know that from experience! Like I said before, I don't work and I'm only gone on my clinical day but I feel horrible for not being able to play with my dog during the day. On my clinical day I'm lucky enough to have a brother who comes and lets him out. I just don't think it's right to let the dog hold it for more than 6 hours. Most people will argue it because they will hold it as long as they have to but the way I look at it is I would never make it 6 hours without going myself so why is it fair to make him wait. He will sit and bark at me trying to get attention while I'm trying to read and I get so mad, but then, it's my fault, he just wants attention. At least wait until after the first semester to decide if you think you can handle it or not.
