Specializes in Cardiology/Internal Medicine..

Will my certifications/lifelong experience in MA/CNA/PCT/Cert EKG Tech/Cert Phleb.Tech/HIS Tech/Medical Transcriptionist make the NLN any easier to excel in? Accepted back to college in Sept; but competition is huge and only 40 slots fo 450 applicants. Passed the TEAS a few months ago. Math my nemesis. Suggestions?Opinions? Very motivated and very concerned how to 'surpass' all my young competion!

You can do it. I was 46 years old, never worked in health care field and English is my second language. Plus, I worked every weekends 24 hours during the program.

I graduated with honor in June.

Math in LPN program is extremely easy. You just need to understand what the question really asking is. Good luck.

Specializes in OR scrub/circulator, hospice crisis care.

Math was my nemesis too- at 42 I didn't remember how to do anything without a calculator so the entrance exam was very hard. I worked my butt off, did well even on Pharmacology, graduated last year with fantastic grades and have my dream job in the OR at age 44. You already got accepted and have TONS of experience so you will be fine! I agree with Essential: always make sure you understand the question.

Best of luck to you, future nurse! :nurse:

My TEAS score was just 'passing'; but the school that accepted me is for (first 2 quarters) are for the core classes. The NLN test will be the deciding factor (for them); and so my NLN scores at testing in December will have to surpass all the others in order for me to continue into the LPN program. How difficult is the NLN itself for PN? It's not the PN program itself that has me so worried; it's the numbers/competetion for the NLN test of how to be one of the 40 from 450 selected. Yikes!!!!!
