Mid Manhattan / Brooklyn Adult learning lpn program Fall 2013

Published

Hello all,

I figure since those of us that have passed the waiting phase are now in the acceptance phrase and waiting to start the program we can start a new post.

Congrats to all again!

Who will be in Manhattan

And Brooklyn?

Where you getting your supplies?

Anyone plan on making many friends or keeping their head in the books at all times?

If possible this can be our go to for the year.

Neat. Yup. I got the main supplies. I had some money saved. Now I have to get a few more sets of uniforms, and save up for ATI, and get a few school supplies and a descent bag. I think I'm going to use some sort of rolling cart, at

East for the first day to haul all those books to school. They are so heavy, it almost ripped my book bag.

I plan on starting to buy supplies next week. Right now have to pay my insurance but have everything in my cart to purchase. I saw that all the scrubs say they run large. Are they very loose or just a little loose?

It depends on the brand. I've been wearing scrubs for yrs n yrs the brand matters when it comes to fit, color lasting and stains coming off.

So what brand have you found to be the most durable?

I have a concern regarding the textbook " Manual for nursing practice 10th edition with online access, the ISBN on the paper is 78179833, and the author is Smith, but i couldn't search any match book for this author. I found one called Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice by Sandra M. Nettina, ISBN is 1451173547, so is it the one I should get?

Thats the book I found as well. Most of the isbns are wrong. They are either off by one or two numbers; are for the wrong editions or as in this case foe the wrong book altogether. When I searched the Lippincott book is the one that popped up for me as well. So im planning on buying that one. Can always shoot the instructor off an email to see what she says.

Dickies and most hospital brands.

How's everyone doing so far?

Debating on buying Nurse Central. It seems we would be buying out of the three books two are repeats from the list except the diag tests. I went on the site and it seems you buy all three as a whole! That is not making sense to buy them...on the fence with that decision.

Manual for Nursing Practice 10th edition with online access

Introduction To Maternity Nursing, 2nd Ed.

Which two? The link isn't showing up. I completely understand what you mean about nursing central. Might be for once we are out in the field nd don't have time to be searching through the books for the info. Maybe better to wait till clinical s nd purchase it that way can save up some money for it and one less thing to purchase now. Just an idea.

Don't know why it came out that way the two books

Repeated are

Tabers medical dictionary

And

Davis drug guide

Nurse central has those two plus the third is Davis lab diagnostic test

The differ is on the list is Tabers ed is 22ed. and the drug guide is 13ed.

Nurse central does not say which ed.

Also with nurse central there is the Tabers app you can download. For a cost

Hope im not confusing. But yeah your right I won't buy them just yet.

Plus I found these study sheets that I will be picking up: http://www.amazon.com/Medical-Terminology-Basics-Quick-Academic/dp/1572225386/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3P1MY0WC2VBAY&coliid=I3A6KJ15F20KJK
