Hi JCPRNEMT! I have orientation Friday and we start classes Monday! Do you have any tips on studying during the program/how to keep up with the workload? And are the week long breaks and Christmas break actual breaks or do you do clinicals during those?? And congratulations on finishing!!:)

OMG... Congrats! I'm so excited for you! Dr. Hood will actually be reading a letter I wrote to your class on Friday when you are in orientation. My class got your class a small gift that she will be handing out.

So here's the thing on the workload, keep your calendar up-to-date at all times. It takes a ton of time and commitment to get through this thing. I just told a guy on here how I was studying 20-30 hours a week outside of class the first two Mods.

The thing about the breaks... the first break you might have some patho and/or pharm voice over power points to watch or something but it usually doesn't take much time. You can get it done quick and enjoy the break. That's not an MNU thing, but rather a KS Board of Nursing thing that you have to do work on the breaks. The month long Christmas break is a real break. You don't have to do anything. It's so nice! Truth is, you're going to need it after the amount of work that you're going to be doing between now and then. LOL

Here's the thing to keep in mind... I personally watched 46 people in the class ahead of us graduate from ABSN, I just watched 48 graduate on Friday night. You can totally get through this. You'll hear this over and over on Friday and I say it in the letter you'll hear... You have to do this program as a team. The people that tried to go it alone suffered early on. Those that were early adopters of team work and helping each other out thrived in the program early on.

Just keep you head down and grind it out until Christmas Break. There's no other way to get through it. After that you'll be in clinical at the hospital and it will all be worth it. Best of luck!

Hi JCPRN!

How many students are in the class? Did all your batch passed the program?how many hours do you need to study a day outside of class? I am still deciding between MNU and USM in Leavenwoth, Kansas. Their ABSN program cost about the same but MNU's location is much better- close to everything. Also, did you have quizzes everyday?are there a lot of papers to write? Any tips or advice from someone who finished the program will be greatly appreciated!

Hey Dadang,

We started with 52 and graduated 48. 2 dropped the program for financial reasons and 2 were removed for poor academic performance. The program is completed in 7 week modules. Basically the Fall Semester is two mods. It takes place over 16 weeks just like a traditional university system. However, in a traditional setting, if you're full time you'd probably take 12 to 15 credit hours. At MNU in the Accelerated Program you're taking 23 credit hours. You'll have to study almost all the time. I would be in class from 0800 to 1700 each day. Then I'd go home for a bit and study 2-3 hours every night. Saturday I would study from 0900 to 1500 and then again on Sunday from 1200 to 1700. Yes, you will have multiple quizzes, papers, projects and tests every single week. You will have weeks where you have 4 midterm exams, 3 quizzes, a paper and a group project due. This program is no joke. It's not for the weak of heart. You will be writing every week whether it's a paper, a discussion forum, a group project or a case study. They expect everything to have APA citing. If you don't know what that is, you should become a master at it. They expect you to know it! The key to doing well in this program is you have to be extremely motivated and historically a high performer. You have to manage your time very well and you have to be able to prioritize your work. MNU ABSN is more like grad school. Most of the students in my class had come from other Master's programs, successful careers and some came direct from their first undergrad degree.
