Hello

I'm taking microbiology lecture and microbiology lab for the summer. I'm doing well in the lab but not the lecture. The lecture class meets once a week and the only thing we do in the class is take the test. Their is 4 test and two lecture quiz. I failed my first test in microbiology lecture. I need to pass this class so I can apply for the nursing program. Any ideas on how I can pass this class?

I earned an A in microbiology. Our professor gave us study guide questions for lecture in which she would answer these during lecture class time. I strictly studied these questions diligently before tests and aced the tests every time. I don't know what I would do without these study guide questions!

Lucky! My professor in microbiology said that the American education is bad and that he will not gives us no study guide in which he refers to as the "answers" to the test.

If you're not retaining material from just studying the text, try the many visual, verbal and repetitive learning tools out there. I am not affiliated with or endorsing any of these, but examples include easynotecard.com and quizlet for repetitive quizzes. For verbal / visual lectures and quizzing: Khan Academy, Bozeman Science (you tube), Handwritten Tutorials (you tube). Find the one that makes you have an "oh, I get it" response and dig in. I had a similar experience with micro and I had to do all three -- text, repetition and visual / verbal lectures -- to understand it. Looooot's of time studying. Tough class. I hope you do well! Hang in there!
